    I've got a 30'06.

If that don't get me banned what does it take?

The Colorado and the V8 in it are not unreliable. I have no experience with the Dodge so can make no comment on that. Your comment was true before you were born, but not now; Chevy makes very reliable vehicles. I have worked for a few companies that had 50+ Chevy trucks with +200k of hard miles.

I would have purchased this motor with my truck, if it were an option. Anyone have any specs to compare to our motor's now?

I would never want a v8 in the taco. I'd much rather see them bring the 4 banger diesel they have everywhere else to the US. I'd be all over that like a fat kid on cake.

I think the 4.7 would be perfect in my 2001. you 2nd gen guys would have the 5.7 option. There's nothing better sounding to me than the dual-harmonic tone of a v8 and the strong look of a Tacoma screams v8. I'm sorry, but I hate the wimpy baritone v6 sound.

Little turbo diesels are heavy, slow, and expensive. It will last a thousand years though.

I thought I was the only one who picked up on this....

I've driven the 4Runners with the 4.7 v-8 and they have more torque than the 4.0's but aren't much faster in acceleration. I'll stick to my v-6. My 4runner gets 22.5mpg. The one I drove with the v-8 was getting 18.5. Which is still better than my Taco's 16.5 though.......

My dad's 96 Dakota with the 318 got 20 MPG at 70MPH on the freeway. I believe it's possible in a new 2WD Tundra with a light foot on the gas pedal.
The Prerunner and 4x4 Tacomas are light enough to get 20MPG with a modern V8, the limiting factor is going to be aerodynamics and ride height.
