Speaker template 2011 double cab Tacoma

Hello All!

Long time lurker first time poster. I just purchased a brand spanking new 2011 double cab tacoma and loving it. I have the non JBL audio system and dying to upgrade to something a little more powerful. I'm piecing together the audio equipment and have purchased some 6.5" to replace the 6x9's in the front and also replacing the front tweeter and rear 6.5's. Do any of you know where I can download a template so that I can cut my own adapter kit? I tried searching before posting this but cannot find any thing in relation.

You can trace your stock speakers. You have to cut (ruin) them to do so but they are worthless anyways, they sell for very little

 

I cut out my factory speakers so I had just the plastic housing. It has bee a few years but I believe some dremeling was also involved. Then I drilled holes in the sides of them and attached the speakers with zip ties to the housing. Then I just bolted the housing back in like original. I know the zip ties sound cheesy but it worked great and has lasted 5 years already. The factory housings protect from water drips.

 

That sounds like a good idea. Did you replace the 6x9's with 6.5"? If so did the 6.5's fit over what you cut out without gaps? I'm replacing the rear 6.5's. Did you swap them out to? And what about the tweeters?

If so I'm interested in hearing how you did that.

I did the rear just like I did the fronts.

Sorry, I don't have and pics of the fronts. They are the same set up though. I did replace the tweeters...I don't remember exactly how I did it. I don't think it was very difficult. I also ran in line filter to the tweeters to keep all low frequencies out.
