Ok, so I just came back from the accessory shop with the pop and lock for the tailgate. I've installed it and it works great. Now I've read on here some people having problems with it after 1 winter or so with the salt and dirt getting packed into the keyhole making it impossible to insert the key.

Would packing the slot with some type of Lithium grease help this issue?

Oh, and when I was installing the pop and lock I came across this in my garage:

    http://www.meguiarsdirect.com/product_detail.asp?T1=MEG+SEA+16

and tried it out on the tailgate, it left a mirror shine like I've never seen before...it removed small rust dots and everything...has anyone ever tried this stuff?

Thanks for all your help :)

Dirt and grime might stick to the lithium grease, I would probably use something lighter like PB Blaster or (wd40 if don't have pb blaster)

I can't specifically speak from experience about the Pop n Lock. But for locks in general, you'd probably want to use graphite or dry teflon spray rather than anything greasy or oily.

I used lock graphite on mine pretty regularly to no avail unfortunately. I hope it works out better for you. They use a lot of salt where I am & even with my best effort it stopped working.
