I will definitely be doing this in the coming weeks. I'm currently in NJ and about to tow a U-Haul 5x8 back to SC and the leafs have stepped it up a notch with the squeaking this week.

    New to me
I was about to try to clean and lube my squeaky leafs but decided to check here first and I'm glad I did. This fix worked great but time will tell how long it lasts.

Mine had the yellow plastic spacers from Toyota in there but they are only like 2" long (pretty much useless). After getting the pry bar between the leafs, I popped those out using a beat screwdriver in the round hole in the leaf spring that locks the spacer in. This hole came in handy later when, after a thorough cleaning with electrical parts cleaner (ran out of brake cleaner) and slathering the inner tube (I left mine tubular, we'll see how it works out) with gorrilla glue, you use this hole to push/guide the inner tube down the length of the leaf with the beat screw driver. I glued both sides of the tube, I hope I don't pay a price for this later on. Bonus, the glue acts as a lubricant when inserting the inner tube.

This fix could not be easier. The only somewhat tricky part is doing the passenger rear by the tailpipe as space is limited.

Jumped up and down on the bumper...AMAZING
    No freakin' squeakin'....NONE.

If anyone has an update on how long this lasts please let us know. I don't do any real off roading yet...new to me 2005 AC.

Also, I saw where some guys used material other than bike innertube and I'm wondering if plastic may be better than rubber. OP said factory had some rubber on his truck. Mine had the plastic yellow spacers.

Many thanks to the OP for the fix

Just wanted to say that this was a great walk through. I appreciate that the OP took the time to take pictures so the less mechanically inclined (such as myself) could figure it out.

Tacoma is stock and staying that way, Pickup is TBA as of now.
damn, that looks really easy too, so you only do this to the rear then? It seems with my truck that the front squeaks too...either way doing it to the rear would help a lot!

What about UHMW Polyethylene (think cutting board material)? It has high impact resistance and is slippery. You can get sheets or bars @ industrial supply companies like McMaster-Carr. I may have to try it out and see...

Could anyone tell me what a TSB is? If I understand correctly, its an added leaf. Is that a Toyota warranty issue? My 09 bottoms out going over small bumps. Would be nice if they'd repair that.
    Thanks for any input.

    TSB = Technical Service Bulletin

It's basically a bulletin put out by Toyota to it's techs instructing them on how to correct known issues with the trucks .

In this case the TSB is for the suspension harsh ride , they replace the US stock 3 leaf pack with a 4 leaf pack .

You need to still be under warranty to have this done by them for free

Thanks Peter. I have the squeak as well. Gonna call Toyota in the morning and will see if they'll fix it.

If you want them to replace the pack , say you have a " harsh ride " when carrying weight and that the rear suspension bottoms out . That seems to be the key phrase
