Yeah, I was thinking of trying to keep my stock strut intact and buy new top plates for the new shock assembly. But the top plates are about $100 or so for the pair, so I might like to have them removed from my stock strut then compressed onto the new aftermarket shocks. But then I'd need a ride to the shop to have them switched out.

So that's $100 for top plates+spring exchange and compression charge for the shop (about $50)+time/trouble to have them switched out. Now I'm back to thinking about preassembled shocks. Hmmmmmmm. OME vs. Fox COs. vs Preassembled Bilsteins. Decisions.

It boils down to what's you're budget.

I have some spring compressors that belong to a fellow TWer, but I hate using them. They are death traps and just generally fucking scary to use. I mean, I risk it for my vehicles, but not so sure about other peoples.

Yeah, budget...and weather or not I'll ever get to use those high-end COs to their potential.

I wouldn't want to use those screw spring compressors. I like my life and the life of others too. I'd just have someone drive me the local Skips tires or Sears and pay them to take care of it. Definitely thanks for the thought.

I accept responsibility for that one! I did tell GreenTaco to get in and press the brakes... under advice from the others present at the moment

    Well, most of us! :D

I didn't say anything, didn't see anything and didn't hear anything lalalalalalala!

I can assemble the struts at work. There is a spring compressor I can use but it would require me having the new springs and shocks as well as the OEM struts. You would be without a truck for a day.

Wow, you are so cool to offer such help!!! But that would be such trouble for you and I'm in San Jose, a bit far from you.

I might just remove them myself, have someone drive me to the local shop, then have them ready when I have others available the next day for final install.

Eric said he got three bolts holding his bumper on, he said he still needs to weld something to hold it better, told him he doesn't want to pull a Jacob and have stuff falling off on the freeway

Are you looking for the top hat? I'm not sure what vehicle you have but I have a set off my 4runner you can have, but I am a little far from you. I am in Sacramento. Unless someone here is heading to the bay any time soon.

Hey, just for shits and giggles, I'd love to ask the service dept at the dealership how many man hours they have in their book for swapping out 2nd gen CO's, I'm pretty damn sure that two man hours flat is not what's in their book!

Yeah, I think that's it. It just goes on top and holds the spring onto the shock. Do you have part numbers? That way I can check if it will work on my truck, which is a 2011 DCSB. If they fit, I might be able to pick them up on Sunday as I'm heading to Tahoe for a trip.

Thanks a bunch for offering these to me!!!
