    I'm not near my truck so I can't measure but will a 4x8 foot piece of plywood fit in an access cab standard length truck bed width-wise?

    it will fit flat laying on top of the wheel wells I believe. It will also stick over your tailgate (which will be laying down) by about 6"

    Leave the tailgate up and chuck them in there

    I do it all the time , with the gate up there is no chance of sheets sliding out the back .

    great point. I do this with 2x4's or other lumber. Just remember to attach the red or orange flag to the material sticking out of the back.
