    I'm doing good....just bored today. Not a lot going on. My huge AK project is finally gone so thats a relief! We had 9 trucks (about 1/4 of the total project) lined up at the docks this morning waiting to get loaded onto the freight barge. I think that's a new record for us.

    :eek: did you just call me an architect?!?!?! i'm offended...i'm reporting you to the mods.

    I work for a company that makes structural insulated panels...basically big chunks of EPS (think styrofoam) glued in between OSB. The result is super insulated, super efficient buildings....from houses to schools to hospitals...I've done just about everything. Here's a few shots from a local project I did.

    I dunno. I get to do some design work but most of the time I have to take existing plans and interpret them in a way that works for us...hence my frustration with some people. So many things get left off of plans or are treated as not important...makes my job difficult.

    I am a drafter :) I iz a drawer of things

    Its really not that complicated...:rolleyes:

    On say a large project like the AK one...I have to deal with the architect who drew up the overall plans, the structural engineer that worked with the architect, the contractor who will be putting things together, and my engineer who double checks what the other engineer did.

    I create new drawings using the architect's originals as my guide then I have to get him to verify that I interpreted everything correctly. Then my engineer goes through and tells me to add or change things that I, the other engineer or the architect missed in the hopes that once those changes are made the building won't collapse and kill someone. Then I take my plans and get things ready so that we can precut the panels to size and stack them, crate them, and ship them. They then go on a nice boat trip up to AK, sit out all winter at the jobsite, and then next year when the snow recedes they crack everything open and start building. And then they call me and ask me why I did this or that...how the hell am I supposed to remember what I did a year ago!!!! :goingcrazy:

    See? Nothing to it! :rolleyes:
