I'm always surprised on how hot they really do get on race vehicles. Pretty amazing actually.

 

Hey guys im really looking into and LT build! your guy's trucks look so badass and i figured since i have a prerunner i may as well do something fun with it!
Ill be on this thread quite a bit from now on but can anyone define exactly what a "mid travel" is vs a "long travel"?? i think i have an idea but this seems to be the place i can get a true answer

 

Mid-travel is usually stock length arms but with coilovers. You can get an aftermarket UCA and you gain a little extra travel. Hence mid travel.

Long travel would be completely different upper and lower arms, wider and more travel than stock length arms can produce.

They're dangerous to have without a cage. They're designed to be rigid; your stock seats are designed to fold under weight.

That way when your uncaged truck flips, and the roof collapses in, your body has somewhere to go (when the seat folds).

With rigid race seats, you will be held firmly in position - even if the roof is caving in on you. With a caged truck, you're shooting for the benefit of being held tightly in place because you have confidence in your cage.

 

Not so much the seats, but that is why you don't want harnesses in a vehicle that doesn't have a cage

 

no cage = no place to bolt harnesses

 

some seats have harnesses in them

 

There are plenty of places to bolt in harnesses. I have seen it done more than once

 

What I am wondering is if you have seats, harnesses and a roll cage do you have to wear the harnesses when you DD? Or can you use the stock shoulder/lap belt? I know its probably safer to wear the harnesses but damn that could get old quick
