looking to buy another rifle

Anyone know anything about the Bushmaster 223 or the Smith & Wesson M&P's assault rifles in my area there is about a $400.00 price difference between them, Bushmaster is more. Just would like to know if it is that much better, I'm looking for something that I can shoot as fast as I want without the thing jamming up, I know the ammo plays a big part in that, give me some feedback THANK YOU

 

Nothing wrong with either of those weapons for most uses. If you want an AR that will go boom every time you pull the trigger even after sustained rapid fire, then you're going to have to go with a piston AR like the Ruger SR-556 or any LWRCi. Very few downsides over a DI AR other than cost and a little more weight.

If you are headset on one of those 2 brands. I'd go s&w all day long and use the rest to buy a case of good ammo.

 

S&W is middle of the road but a good rifle. Bushmaster is low quality and should be avoided if at all possible imo.

 

stay away from bushmaster.

if you wanna get a decent rifle for a decent price and dont want to mess with buidling one then go with the S&W.

 

I'm hurt! When I pull its trigger my Bushie reliably puts .223 rounds down range in rough proximity to where I want the shots to fall. Any difference between point of aim and point of impact is generally operator error and not the fault of the weapon.

 

And my friend's Yugo always gets him where he wants to go...

 

to each their own. If im spending money on a rifle I want one with known, proven reliability and the specs and reputation to back it up.

Do I need a mil spec rifle? maybe not.
Do I want one? yes. and I can buy a quality known manufacture that produces mil spec rifles for the same price...

The reason bushmaster is still in business is because people dont know any better, IMO.

My Palmetto state armory will run $580, then add 60 bucks for a rear sight = $640

 

you can get this, buy a lower reciever at your local FFL dealer, put it all together and you will have a great shooter at a better price than what you would pay for buying one from your local sporting good store.

I disagree on the initial BM quality opinions. I will admit that other brands are just as good but cost less though.
I had a BM several years ago before everybody and their mom was making ARs. It always worked great and would shoot any ammo with no problem at all.

 

I'm a 'any AR-15 is better than no AR-15' kind of guy but as far as quality and components and the 'little details', BM is lacking.

 

If if worked good for you then great. All im saying is be an imformed consumer.

And lots of people's won't. But if someone was breaking into my home and I had the choice to grab a factory Bushy or the BCM that I built to defend my life with I would go for the BCM. Like I said before, the people buying bushmaster or dpms probably don't know better. It's your money so do what you want

 

I like my Bushmaster...I ran the shit outta that rifle with my agency for training, quals and rifle classes. Never had a glitch.

 

Wow where did all the Bushmaster hate come from? Mine has NEVER let me down after 1000's of rounds pumped through it! I have a XM15-E2S with a A3 upper. Worth every single bit of the $950 it cost new

 

I don't hate any AR. I just like quality and BM, DPMS, Armalite, Olympic, are not in the the same league as other comparably priced 'high end' ARs like Colt, BCM, DD, and LMT to name a few. Not trying to be a snob but it is what it is.

I have built AR's and have a ton of experience behind numerous guns. I have had 0 failures from my BM but have seen several failures in AR's such as Rock River and Colt's. I don't want to start a pissing match but people that bash on BM have little to no experience behind one they just feed on rumors.

 

Not if it's that or nothing.

These are not rumors:
BM only batch tests their bolts and doesn't properly stake their gas key. They also only batch test their barrels. They have a rifle FSB rather than an 'F' marked one. They don't stake their castle nut. Most manufacturers stand behind their rifles for life whereas BM's warranty is only a year.

Now if your rifle runs well, great! it's supposed to. But for around the same $, I want a better quality rifle that has been MPI/HPT tested individually with the proper staking and all the little things that make a rifle 'top tier'.
So I don't care what AR15 you own but comparing a BM to a Colt is not going to fly with those who are knowledgeable with how they're both built.
