Yea man. That day at RC got the best of me. lol

Sorry you cant make it. Fall will be a great time to wheel. Nice and cool and the leaves will be great to see from some of those high points.

No problem. I didn't have any time constraints that day so, it worked out.

I just ordered the same set up Wlaker Evans 2 weeks ago from AllPro. I am upgrading from a ProComp lift that I really don't like. I have a few questions if you don't mind answering for me:
What did you set your lift heght upfront at?
Any helpful hints or tricks on installing the front coilovers?
I am also running the same UCA's, What is your caster set at?

I really want the sliders but I am sure shipping to 70726 Louisiana would be as much as you're selling them for!!!!!!

Good choice. I was skeptical to buy them at first. They are great coliovers! Do you have a bumper, skids, etc? That will make a difference on how you set them. If you have all I have, I can give you the exact dimension for the height I ride. They are actually really easy to adjust with the spanner wrench. If you don't have one, call Allpro and get one. You will mess up the adjustment holes without.

Yea, its a doozy at around $200....

Yea man, next weekend will be the real test. GOing out to RC in PA. I cant wait!

I will eventually have skids and bumper but for now I don't. I will double check and make sure I am getting a spanner wrench. I did ask for one to be shipped with it too.

I figured it would be over $200.

    Thanks!

I would just put them on and adjust accordingly. When you adjust them, you need to take the weight off the front wheels. Also, for every X inch you move the collar on the coilover, it lifts or drops 2X. So, if you adjust the collar 1/8", it will give you 1/4" inch of lift or drop depending on which way you are adjusting.

I forgot to mention.. I got my caster at 2.6 each side. toe 0 and camber 0.

Thanks for the good info!! I would have figured that out the hard way!

After I install mine I will post lift and alignment specs for whomever else wants to know that info.

sorry I couldnt give you an exact area you should put the collar. The weight of my truck is completly different than yours. My setting would give 3.5"+ of lift.

One bit of information I forgot to record before I installed the ProComp lift was the heght of the fender from the ground when it was st:mad:ck!!! I'm not sure what height that ProComp lift gave me but it doesn't look to be a noticable difference in height from the other 3" lift manufactures I have seen on other guys trucks.

I assume I can find an identical truck to mine that is stock and use that as a base line measurement. It might be off at most a 1/2" I would think.

    ^^^ this. Thank you Anthony.

My new rigs cv boots don't play well with a 3" lift. I ended up taking off the inner cv boot clamp, sliding out the boot about 1/2" down the shaft and reclamping. I'm testing it now to see if it moves. It has not in almost two weeks. So, this may be the fix a lot are looking for. I still wouldn't lift much more than 3" due to premature wear on the joints.

Story of my life... do everything twice. The powder coat on my front bumper was bumbling and peeling on the upper section. I can only blame the poor PC finish on the prep work (I did the prep). If you decide to PC anything, you really need to get the parts clean or else the PC will bubble and peel.

I ended up stripping the PC with Aircraft Stripper. That shit is real nasty! Burns your skin instantly! Make sure you are fully covered if you use it. So, I applied the stripper to the paint, waited for bubbling, applied more and used a power washer to remove the paint. I needed about three cycles of this before all the PC was gone. I then sanded the basre steel down with 100 grit. I decided to use POR15 as a base. I cant say enough about this stuff. I then degreased it with POR Marine Clean, prepped the metal with Prep and Ready and sprayed two coats of POR15. Waited 2 hours for it to flash over and sprayed 2 coats single stage SW Charcoal silver flake on top. Came out great and I can touch it up when I F it up now.

Here is some of the process. I also sprayed the back bumper.

Try to drop it about .5" with the new lift. If the outer boot is rubbing, you know its bad... Looks like your outer boot is rubbing? Usually, the inner boot fins rub before the outer.

I had a groove worn into the boot only after 500 miles. GLad I moved the boot out!

Will def do that when I install my new lift and also will do the "CV Boot Mod" you did as well just for good measure. I don't see any visible damage to my boots yet either.
