Today i got the LEDs in to mod the gauges. I screwed up and bought the leds on ebay... I will never buy off there again. I was supposed to get 19 leds for the mod. I only got 13, i immediately messaged the sell and supposedly the correct amount are on the way after much deliberation. I HATE EBAY!!! if you are looking to do this mod just order the leds from an electronic store online! So i figured i would at least start the mod, well what i could do with what i had. after 3 HR of swapping led and finding that over half the leds i got in the kit were bad i only got half way done. needless to say im not to happy about the whole situation. But leaned a valuable lessen! Although i an supper stocked about the fuel and temp gauges!

Here a pic let me know what yall think
i know the speedometer is blue, purple, pink, orange. all due to the fact i ran out of good blue ones. and could only change one.

    Respectfully
    Cory

few questions about this because I want to do the same thing..

    1. do you have much electrical experience?
    2. was it hard to get to the leds?
    3. about how much did the lights cost and all you needed was lights... no special wires or added things other then the stock harnesses?

thanks for doing this mod too.

Is this as simple as changing the LEDs out with existing hardware?

Personally, I'd like the gauges to match the hue of the devices in the center stack.

its not hard at all to solder! all you need is tha gun and some solder! Solder is very maluable so it melts instantly when you touch it with a gun. Use tweezers to pick up the bulbs and put tha new ones in! And yes all you need is bulbs unless you wanna change the needle colors too! The leds are the easier part of the swap! I think it took me longer to take it apart and put it back together then to actually change the lights! Im an electrician but it has nothing to do with electrical work! This is very easy to do urself!

    heres mine

What size LED's are used in this swap? Is there a voltage rating I need to look for? I've been thinking about sending mine out but if I am able to do it myself (I can solder fairly proficiently) I'd rather not have the turnaround time with the mail exchange.

those are all you need! Once i figured out the easiest way to take apart the cluster it only took me about an hour to do the whole thing including the needles! You can do it urself, i promise! Once you get the cluster apart and locate the LEDS and do a few of them you'll be like " damn this isnt hard at all"

if you are thinking about doing this mod just remember the phasing and a few other things. when you look at your old leds you will notice one corner notched out. there is a reason for this. LEDs only work in one direction of. Change them out one by one and always look at the phasing. if you are new to soldering change out one at a time and check it to see if it works. just plug it in. the leds also run in series so if you didnt get a good connection/ phased wrong/ or bad led you will know.
    good luck!!!
