Go to car-parts.com and look for a TRD rear axle with the e-locker. That is what I did when i was looking for my locker... Usually when you order a rear axle housing it comes with ECU and the wiring harness to engage the e-locker.

^Not necessarily, you can buy the 3rd member then have someone integrate the 3rd member in your existing axle housing.

Im leaning more towards an aftermarket electric one that way I can switch it on and off. I would go factory but I want to have to deal with the whole axle swap. Does anyone have any opinions on aftermarket electric lockers and what they think the best one is?

i think the only electric locker you can get is a standard toyota TRD one..but im not sure either. Most i have seen are air lockers..

Haha, well I actually just looked at the website mentioned earlier and I have found several stock axels and the price of those has really swayed me as I am only 17 and have a part time job. I just dont know what EXACTLY Im looking for. Would any rear axle assembly with a stock locker fit my truck?

You can get it Used. You just have to buy the whole axle and swap it in and get a wiring harness.

Better option is to get an ARB air locker if you can afford it.
    or
    Get a Lock Rite installed.

You need a axle housing with 4.10 gears. That is if your tacoma has 4.10 gears... You going to have to figure out what gears you are running before you swap axles. BTW just doing a TRD rear axle swap is easy because the wiring part is plug and play.

Okay, I have 4.10 gears in mine so all I need is an axle with 4.10 gears and a locker? Does it matter what year it came off of or it was for an auto tranny or 5sp? I have an auto in mine

Im probably gonna get a stock trd axle and just swap with mine. I looked at the ARB lockers and they are priced pretty high. Ive found several trd axles on a parts website that are half the price of the ARB lockers and I would rather stay all Toyota parts back there if possible

    He was being facetious.

blink twice, scratch your left nip and you'll get it locked... My buddy has to do all sort of quirky shit to get his turdy facotry e-locker enganged and then according to the manual keep it under 5 mph. Which is really weak, he's taken it up to 25...again, weak. Your way better off with a lunchbox locker or arb or detroit. I'm not a fan of these factory e-lockers.

:cool:It would be easier (and cheaper) to swap the whole housing than to get an ARB installed. Assuming you do it your self. Aussie makes an autolocker that is pretty smooth.
