Beach Supplies

I'm going down to the beach in september, renting a house mostly day camping out on the beach with the truck. I'm trying to build up some supplies, and i am running short on ideas of what to pack to make the day excellent. I will list what i have thought of, please feel free to add to the list.

cooler full of drinks (obviously all i really need...)
10x10 EZ-up
couple of chairs
portable charcoal grill (with all the supplies needed)
maybe corn hole boards
food for the grill.

I guess i'm just fishing for awesome ideas here...help!

 

empty bucket for water, to wash off sand from feet
binoculars for spying

 

shovel

 

1. Fist pumping music

Air pump to refill tires and a good gauge.

Also, keep mostly ice in your chest and add drinks as you take some out. If you fill your chest with a lot of cans, then there is less room for ice and you will run out faster. Blocks last longer than crushed, as well...

We bring two chests, one for food and one for the beer and water/sodas... Keep the ice chest out of direct sunlight, drain melted water out of the food chest... leave some in the drink chest.

 

Excellent, last time i went there was a naked guy sunbathing about 1/8 mile down the beach... not sure i want the binoculars i might see something i don't want to!

Thanks for the advice! definitely going to upgrade the air gauge, last time i was using the traditional stick type and i got 3 different readings on the same tire... in 90+ heat this can be very frustrating.

I have an airpump that plugs into the 12V outlet in the center console... we have two outlets do you think it would be safe to run two pumps at the same time? this would cut my airing time in half!

 

Great idea, never leave home without it. though i do get strange looks at stop lights pumping my fist to country music!

 

Maybe... or get a quicker air pump that clips directly onto the battery. They pump 3 times faster than the cigarette lighter connect pumps do.

 

If you are going to camp on the beach you will need really long tent stakes. The regular tent stakes are not long enough or strong enough to hammer into the sand. And make sure you have a good mallet to drive them into the ground.

Good call, i worried about staking the ez up down but i think i will just use bags with sand. we wont be camping out over night, just setting up camp for a 8-10 hours a day.

 

Canvas or fiber tote bags, filled with sand are great, take little room when stored, and work great at holding the sun canopy in place (I use bungees).

 

ive never used stakes on a tent in the sand, just throw logs in the corners. with ez-ups if its not too windy you can usually just bury the legs somewhat and it will stay.

firewood and lots of it.

I always take a kite to the beach. i have a pretty nice small trick kite that ive had for probably almost 20 yrs and i take it every time i go to the beach if its a day or a week the kite still goes, sometimes it gets used sometimes it doesn't but i always have it.

if you have a R/C car or truck those are really fun in the sand.

footballs and frisbees are also really fun in the sand

 

Harbor Freight has one for $49 (on sale often), see picture... and another I was given recently is a Master Flow Tsunami MF-1050 (not sure of price... but others I have seen for up to $80).

For my easy-up I used 12" long stakes. then I wrap the legs and stake with bungees. I suspect you're going to the OBX since you're in VA. The sand is too loose there to bury the legs.

 

Good guess! I'll be down on the southern tip of the Hatteras! When he first mentioned burying the legs i thought "damn i'm gonna have to kneel to get in the shade!" i think the sand bags and bungee cords will work, i'll take some stakes and a mallet just in case. great pics BTW, thanks for sharing!

 

Yeah we have different sand here on the west coast we just bury them an inch or two and it works.
