i dont think plasti dip is garbage, you just have to do it right. i have my wheels, badges and bumpers done with it for almost a year now and after numerous car washes, wheeling trips and a harsh winter they still look great.

how long did you wait to start peeling it off? if you let it dry 100% the chances of it all coming off are much higher. i waited til the outer stuff (the coating on the actual truck panel) was dry and the corners where the badges meet the panel were still a little wet.

i would try doing it that way.

I think I just didn't out it on thick enough 3 coats 30 min in between a hour plus wait to get it off. Thought the Tacoma logos were too thick but came out great . I probably just went too thin

I recently bought a 2006 double cab/short bed TRD that is Radiant Red. I'm not a fan of the color matched bumper or chromed parts. I decided to dip some stuff to see if I like it blacked out. Today I've done the two Tacoma emblems and I have a couple of coats so far on the lower valance.

One word of wisdom I have after working with this stuff is that a light overspray can travel over a long distance. Luckily it comes off super easy, but if you have any breeze at all in your work space, you may end up with a little "texture" on unintended surfaces.

Other than that, really easy to work with. Just be patient.

What kind of paint would you recommend? And by what process. I might have to. I applied it heavy and it didn't work still.

Go around the outside of the badges with something like a tooth pic or safety pin. I did and my badges came out perfectly.

Plasti dip is cool stuff. The main thing I like about it is that it isn't permanent.

maybe i ment it wrong. but i don't have mudflaps anymore. so i don't see how the mudflaps would rub off the plastidip. also had a friend plastidip his side skirts on hes car and seems to be holding up pretty good for how slammed he is

I may have to remove them. The ones having trouble aren't elevated enough to break at the emblems

I've already put it through it's first wash and it's held up VERY nicely. I went through the one with the dealies that slap the dirt off (not the pressure one).

imo not really. well for me they weren't. You sprayed too close also, you can see where it ran to the bottom and collected.

I just did mine. A heads up is the door emblems went perfectly. The sr5, and tailgate emblems are made of like silicone? they are bendable and the plasti dip wouldn't tear off at the corners. When I would peel them off it came off with it. (you will see what I mean if you try it. ) I ended up removing all the sr5 and tailgates and plati-dipping on a newspaper then re applying with some spray adhesive. ( which is what Toyota used I believe because the none door emblems werent stuck on with 3 m tape. It is like glue. I took pictures if you need more help/ explanation.

Is this thread still alive? I am sure the plasti-dip sales have trippled because of 90% of the people on this site. Way to go guys for supporting business.

But, what you should do, is just dip the entire truck! Inside, and out, and get it over with. Then you can pee it off to make cool patterns and designs!
