Good morning to ya, I have a 2008 DC 4.0L with 3,500 miles on it and I’ve noticed that when I start my truck after it has been sitting all night in cold temps (less than 20 degrees or so) it will make a funny noise for a second or so after it starts. It’s definitely not the squealing noise you hear sometimes when a belt slips. It’s more of a grinding noise….. I was curious if anyone else has anyone else experienced this? Thanks guys

Yea something like that a high pitched buzz or whine... the colder it is the louder it is, it was -6 this morning so it was fairly loud.

My guess is that it is the power steering pump making the noise due to the fluid being cold/thick. I have experienced this with other vehicles I have owned. It will not hurt a thing as I never experienced a problem otherwise. :)

Can you take a video of the noise (sounds weird) of it tomorrow morning and then post here?

I know when I start my truck on a cold morning that when I turn the dial to defrost that my a/c kicks in and makes a slight noise.
