2005 Tacoma MPG

I'm trying to get an 05 Tacoma 4x2 Regular Cab (not a PreRunner). Anybody know what the typical gas mileage is like? I've seen it listed as both 19/25 and also 21/27. Just wanted to know what people are actually getting. Thanks.


And also, are these pretty reliable trucks? I can't seem to find on for sale that's NOT at a fly-by-night car dealer. I can't get much of a warranty (30 days/1000 miles) this being the case. Most of 'em have around 90-120K mileage. That would be fine if I knew it was in good shape. Thanks again

You aren't going to get a warranty better than that on a 2005, you should feel lucky they offer you anything. Go up to your local Toyota dealer, they will get plenty of Taco's in their used shop.

 

i get about 14-17 now, but back when it was stock i hovered around 20. and I just passed 80k on my truck and not a single problem yet. Maybe that helped maybe not, but that's what i got for ya.

 

This is why I'm glad I got a Tacoma. 14 is considered "bad", in my last truck I would have been super excited to get 14. I'm used to 10-11 mpg. (Dodge 360V8). I got a 4x2 with the V-6. I don't have it yet, but a principle reason I am buying it is for the better gas mileage.

 

Yeah I don't mind it too bad, considering a lot of my friends trucks get 8-10

 

We're talking about a 4-banger here, right? Were you only getting 20 MPG on a 4-cylinder? Or was yours a V6?

Just sold my 94 4Runner and it was getting maybe 15 MPG. Just killing me!
