AC is stuck ON.. what to do..?

So I replaced the stock CD player in my '01 DC TRD w/ a new HU on Sunday.. Everything went as expected, but today I noticed that my AC seems to be stuck ON.

The button still functions like it should, light works on and off etc.. as does everything else on the controll panel, but whether it is pressed in or not the AC is def still engaged..(water still dripping from front pass side & vents blow cold as hell)

I removed the temp control face plate again and tinkered with the button but I can't seem to figure it out

Anyone ever experienced anything like this??!?? should I just pull the AC fuse and run the vents w/o it? Im drawing a huge blank here.. please help!!

 

Take the fuse out?

 

If you pull the fuse put it back in and its still stuck you effed up wiring to it somewhere along the line

 

Since it happened after your head unit install I'm gonna guess you either pinched a wire or something got wired up incorrectly during the install. Maybe try removing the hu and see if you can see anything like that.

I didn't have to wire anything because the HU came out of my '97 Taco and already had the wiring harness attatched.

I'll remove and replace the fuse first and if that don't work I'l pull the dash apart again and look for a pinched wire..

 

well I couldn't find where the AC fuse is


BUT... I disconected the plug under my drivers seat to get rid of the flashing seat belt indicator, and not only did this also get rid of the "you left your lights on moron" sound , but the AC is now back to normal.

I don't think these are even related but it worked and I'm happy. weird

 

Sounds like a good problem to have. Imagine the opposite.

 

the opposite would suck, but this is my first vehicle that actually has a working AC so I would get over it.

my main concern was in the winter what would I do. I always thought that turning the heat up while the AC is on is very bad thing.

 

Nope not at all, it's actually better to run it to keep the AC system lubricated. I run my AC all winter. It keeps the windows from fogging up and the air dry and not musty. The heat is just as hot with the AC on vs. off IMO. In fact, I rarely have to use my defrost in the winter. The only time my AC is off is if I have the windows down and the air completely off.

If you have the either of the defrost modes selected, the A/C will engauge. Reguardless of the button position

 

Move to Arizona?
