    ive been trying to research what offroad lights would be best and looks like everyone seems to go with hella 500s or hella 700s for behind the grille. aside from the price. why dont people use the rally 4000s? do they not fit? or are they just overly-priced?

    Mine were 100 watt halogen... Now they are 35 watt HID, and I have since added my two rebuilt Kragen HID lights along side the Hellas:

    yea those look awesome! but im trying to mount mine behind my grille. do you know if they'll fit behind? according to myhellalights.com the 4000s are 9.19" tall and the 700s are 8.58' tall.

    being that you have both the 4000s and the kragen lights, which do you prefer? and which would you recommend?

    Different lights and they complement each other...

    The Kragen HIDs are 'Euro' (driving) beams and light up an oval area nearer to the car... midway between stock low and high beams, but much brighter.

    The Hella 4000s are 'Pencil' (spot) beams and light a narrow strip straight ahead of the truck, but far away.

    I am convering the Hellas from 100 watt halogen to 35 watt HIDs this week. I have tried 4300ºK and 6000ºK bulbs, and will install 5000º bulbs as the other two colors were not the same as the Kragen's... which seem to be 5000ºK after comparing them with the other two colors.

    ==============================================================

    If I were to buy new lights from the start, I would do the same but a pair of fog (cornering) beams and a pair of driving beams OR the combo I have now: pair of driving beams and a pair of spot beams.

    It depends on where you are driving at night.
