well sir if your looking at the tow ropes like wally world has or auto zone i wouldnt get them they arent recovery straps they could work but there isnt any give in them i would recommend a wheelers strap they off thats what i have and you can look at it at the meet if you would like they also offer different colors also

 

I don't think that'll be enough, those are probably for ATVs

no problem i will have my wheelers strap with me so you can check it out at the meet if you are coming

 

a propper set of recovery gear will be comprised of both tow and snatch straps. it couldn't hurt to have a smaller tow strap from wallyworld. more than likely, even a 4000lb strap will get you out of anything ocala will throw at you. if you want something a little bigger before the meet though, check out tractor supply co if you have one near you. i believe they have towstraps all the way of to 4'' wide and rated for 55,000 lbs.

just don't get anything with hooks on the ends.

Why not hooks?


What do you suggest for a rear anchor point? I bought a 1/2 inch anchor shackle to attach to the frame in front under the bumper but I cant find a good place for the rear. I feel that if I attached anywhere on the frame in the rear it would damage my bumper I just got this truck and unfortunately dont have the funds to be replacing things yet so Im looking to avoid any unnecessary damage.

If the strap breaks... the hooks coming at a truck, or a person potentially dangerous.

And the rear get a 2" ball hitch or shackle like I did.

 

That sounds like the best idea. Guess Ill start saving my pennies. My birthday is coming up. Maybe then.

 

I bought my rear shackle that plugs into my hitch for $12 bucks. Hasnt failed me (yet). Tomorrow I am going to 4wp to get a new strap (last one was a weak tow strap 12k I think, broke when Finks99taco was pulling me out) and a new hitch shackle they have solid steel ones with bigger shackles I will probably buy some shackles too. Prolly gonna spend $100 in gear.

 

like they said a hitch is the simplest. an off road bumper with anchor points is the other option. if you don't have either, there really isn't a way to pull you back, and we'll have to find a way to go from the front.
hooks are bad because they break easier than shackles. the hooks on cheap tow straps are very different from the hook on a winch.

i've got 3 shackles, hi-lift, off road base, shovel, ax, snatchstrap (pretty beat up though), chain, 100 feet of rope, and a lot of improvisation.

 

you'd know already if you were going to find anything substantial.
