The Coopers look good, I may have to re-visit leaning towards the KM2's:thumbsup:

Anyone had 265/75/16 Duratracs before or after 255/85/16 KM2s? What was the difference in gas mileage and drivability?

You're going to loose about 2-3 MPG. I didn't make that switch exactly but I went from the coopers to my current 265/75/16 BFG A/T's and gained about 2 MPG.

Ya the KM2s are almost closer to 34" so they are real tall new. While they are narrower (good for MPG due to less weight and rolling resistance), they are gonna mess with your gearing more.

I think if you plan on modifying anything on your truck to improve performance, gas mileage is going to suffer. Thats just the way it is. If Gas mileage is a concern stay stock its a pretty good truck in stock form.

As obvious as it is, I still like to have as much information as possible when making a decision. I know it is going to go down on both 265/76/16 and the 255/85/16, I'm just want to know what to expect with either option.

Narrower true but they weigh 10LBS more than the stockers.
I think tall and skinny are cool!

I was looking at these for later (way later) down the road when I go for mods (lift, rails, bumpers, winch).

I noticed the BFG KM2 has decent siping for an aggressive tire. I had the BFG MT 32"s with no siping on my Jeep and HATED driving in the rain (I had 4.56 gears too, so you can imagine starting out from a light on wet roads). At speed the MTs floated (they were also very wide though, compounding the problem).

Do any of the other trusted brands have decent siping in this size? I end up driving in lots of downpours and hate floating.

I used to make fun of "pizza cutters" but over the years, I learned my lesson, at least for what I need the vehicle to do, where I plan to do it :)

Where'd you get your coopers? the only places I can find them have them for ~200 a piece.

i plow snow. all the trucks around here plowing run narrow in the winter. 285's suck in snow. they float on top of packed snow and slush making turning an adventurer. truck bogs down in deep powder, wider the tire the more snow you push. 235's seem to be the norm size. waiting for the right time to get 235/85/16 duratracks.

I got mine off ebay as blemished tires for 600. BIG mistake. They never balenced right and vibrated horribly which is why I ended up going back to the tried and true BFG AT.

My dream tires are the 33x10.5-15 BFG AT's but I need 15's for that.

Same I just want or fj 16" rims. Looks like I'm out of luck. It is impossible to mount tires meant for 15"s on 16"s?

totally loving this size. I'm definitely gonna get some 255/80/17 (which is pretty much the same size right?) KM2s once I get new tires. Gonna wait for current (stock dunflops) to wear out first though. Don't have the cash right now ):

correct, you CANNOT mount 15" tires on 16" wheels.

Maybe once my truck isn't a DD I'll jump back to 33's.

Eh whatever I guess I'll just drop more dough for metric tires:(. I swear I remember reading something by Toyota at a car show or something that talked about keeping the same tires and cutting the inside out to fit larger rims. Weird.

That definitely can't be done. The rim of the tire- the bead- is what's used to seat the tire on the rim. You cut it off and all you got left is a good bumper for your boat dock

Will these mount up well on 8" rims. I am looking at getting some 255s for my next set.
