1st gen Tacoma Bed Storage.

Okay, so here is the deal. I want to try and max out my Bed Storage. I have a Double Cab, I've tried searching and found alot of 2nd gen stuff but not alot of 1st gen. I would love to see pictures of your set ups. I admire Box-Rockets truck and love to go that route. But, i cant weld, haha. So Here are the things im wanting to have, ( Uws tool box, Miltary Amo Cans, Hi-Lift, Shovel. ) thats all i can think of. I have a double cab so i dont have alot of room really. Post them pictures!!

 

I used to have a tool box that went over the bed rails and I took it out because it took up too much bed space imo. I went with some military ammo boxes.



I know, I don't have a double cab but some ammo boxes like mine should fit the same and still leave a good amount of bed space.

I bolted them down through the bed with two bolts per box.

 

Thats what i planned on doing too. You wouldnt happen to have there measurments would you?

 

I'm not sure, I could go out and measure them later. They're 20mm boxes.

Here are a few pics of my old 3rd Gen pickup. Might give you a few ideas. I used the ammo boxes too like the pics above. Also bolted down the larger surplus medical supply box. Worked out great.





You could also buy some of that track system stuff with tie downs and bolt it to the inside lip of the bed rail. That might give you some options for securing stuff too.

I know you said you couldn't weld.. but have you thought about fabbing up a bed rack, and taking it to a metal shop (or a buddy w/ a welder) and have them weld it together? You get a basket to go on top, a couple gator-mounts for your high-lift, and your in business.

 

I made a bed rack out of an old bed frame and some metal straps.

 

How the hell did you get the spare out if you needed it?

 

This is the most badass 20mm ammo can storage I ever found. lot of fab work, but it is sweet and inspiring.

 

The large silver box was mounted with quick release pins so it came out quickly, then the spare would slide out between the legs of the cage. Actually wasn't a big deal at all.
