Pre 2005's are easy as heck to hot wire and steal....had my 2001 stole out of my driveway.....when we found it...I had never hotwired before and I picked up wires and touched them and off I went....of course I had to hot wire the radio in too and guess what music station was on.....thats right mexican..

The people that took it tried to get into another tacoma...newer one. and couldn't get it hotwired...

Local Sting Breaks Up Auto Theft Ring

Story Created: Jun 27, 2011 at 5:49 PM PDT
Story Updated: Jun 28, 2011 at 9:42 AM PDT

Undercover officers broke up an auto theft ring after posing as buyers over the weekend.

The California Highway Patrol''s Undercover Auto Theft Unit arrested two Honduran Nationals suspected of selling at least seven stolen Toyota Tacoma pick-up trucks in Ventura, El Rio and Nyeland Acres.

Officers say they preyed on Spanish speaking buyers who paid cash.

The vehicles, stolen out of Los Angeles, had white washed titles and license plates stolen from similar trucks.

The suspects, 21-year-old Barron Javier Ramirez, and 34-year-old Emilson Pena, have been placed on a deportation hold.

I Imagine there are more prerunners than 4x4's in socal so statistically they were targeting prerunners. So if you have a 4x4 your not safe :pout:

They where clever to sell to spanish speakers because statistically latinos are less likely to call the police of anything suspicious.
