    Entune will definitely not be part of the base model. It's only listed as part of the nav package.

    No 6 speed automatic => :(
    No dual vvti => :(
    No leather => :(
    No factory interior AC outlet => :(

    I hope this is just a false leak.

    So the hood, grille, headlights and bumper changed, but the front fenders stay the same. A 2011 Hilux owner can retrofit all the 2012 parts.

    Anyone else think the 2012 Hilux grille looks like a Mach3 razor? Maybe HomerTaco was onto something...

    in some possible good news about the current year model i think it makes good sense that this etune business may drive down the ridiculously inflated $1,000 premium Toyota is currently asking for the JLB/bluetooth package. this may bode well for folks (like myself) who are looking to score a new Taco at the end of the year. you have to think the new etune will minimalize the $1,000 JBL nonsense. or perhaps i am thinking wishfully...

    I think I missed your point...

    Mine was that the 2011 Hilux doesn't look anything like the 2011 Tacoma, and thus, I personally don't think seeing the 2012 Hilux would provide much light to the new Tacoma look.

    I was comparing the 2011 Hilux against the 2012 Hilux to understand how Toyota does facelifts without changing major structural stampings.

    A Quebec car guide "accidentally" released embargoed photos of the 2012 Camry. Too bad they didn't release photos of the Tacoma.

    Ah, I see now - makes perfect sense. Good thinking.

    Do you have copies of said photos of the 2012 Camry? I've only seen one so far. Might give those waiting for the 2012 pics something to tide them over. :D

    The Tacoma absolutely needs better MPG. They will fall behind in the market if they don't improve that soon. So I am HOPING they are saying no changes in engine but they will use the DUAL VVTI because it's basically the same motor but with some tweaks. I can't imagine why they wouldn't use that engine.

    I'm waiting to buy the 2012 but if they don't change the motor then I think it might be a deal breaker.

    You might as well buy a 4.6 V8 tundra or the V6 dual VVTi tundra and get better MPG with either one than the tacoma. Come one toyota!!

    Agreed, that they need to improve the fuel economy if they have the technology, but in the business aspect it unfortunatly may not be cost effective for them to upate all vehicles when the technology is available. I know the Taco has had the same 4.0 for a long time, but comparing to the tundra with the 4.6 V8 or the V6 4.0 isn't really a good comparison to me. For what I want, DCLB 4x4, the Taco combined MPG is 18 and the tundra double cab 4.6 combined MPG is 16. City driving is where most of mine would be and would end up around 13-14 mpg. The Tundra with the 4.0 is only offered in 2wd regular cab, so the fact that it gets the same MPG as the DCLB Taco is irrelavant to me.
    The 4Runner gets better mpg and is heavier but it is not a truck even though it is awesome. After all of this all you have to compare to is the Frontier, Dakota, and the Colorado or Canyon...sorry Ranger fans, I don't think they compare enough to matter. With all of this, the Frontier pulls ahead in power by 24 hp and 15 lbs of torque but loses in MPG. Is that worth it...Not to me to drive a Nissan and not have as many other great features as the Tacoma IMO.
    So even though everyone and their mother wants this 4.0 Dual VVT-i motor in the Tacoma, if it dosen't show up, it's still the better truck in comparison to the other options. I wish it had it too, but just because it isn't going to happen dosen't justify purchasing a different truck next year because there isn't anything better for the Mid size truck. If you need a full size truck, that is a completly different story. Damn Toyota...Just show us some pictures already!

    huh? it's the only midsize import around, it's got amazing resale value compared to anything else, and get's roughly 18-19mpg average. that's significantly better than any full size, and the ford ranger. similar to the nissan Frontier, and as a Nissan salesman, I say the tacoma is more truck.

    Yup, good points. I hadn't realized that the v6 tundra is only regular cab. Yes, like you ely, I want a dcab 4x4. The tundra is a tempting alternative because it may possibly get the same or better MPG.

    I am not interested in any other brand of truck. If the 2012 tacoma doesnt improve MPG I will probably buy the 4runner.

    What toyota has to understand is they are quickly falling behind. Look at the ford f-150 specs. 3.7 V6 gets 302 HP at 17/22 MPG. and the ecoboost 3.5 V6 gets 365 Hp and 16/22. How you gonna compete?? Obviously you don't get the toyota reliability but judging by numbers the winner is clear.

    Do tacomas really get 18-19 MPG? All my friends get 16-17.

    ^ The F-150 doesn't get the EPA 17/22 MPG rating in real-world conditions, neither does the Tundra. Both full-size trucks' numbers are heavily inflated by extra tall overdrive ratios in the tranny.

    How much do you think this will cost after the three years of free service Toyota is giving you with the purchase? Sat radio is usually around $11-$13 right? I've been reading that the first three years of Entune will be free. I know some people don't want it, but what do you think it will cost when it's not "free" anymore?
