5100's

if i went with the 5100's and set it at 2.5" would i need to get new coils as well or will the stock prerunner be fine?

 

they're designed to be used with the stock coils. If they dont have some insane number of miles on them, then reusing them as designed is just fine.

You've dealt with both? Because I havent come across better service than Wheelers. And they'll usually give a TW discount so their prices are very competitive; also they're located in Oregon so theres no sales tax for the OP like there would be if he bought from DSM since they're in SoCal.

Swapping out the coilovers is very simple with a few basic tools, and a spring compressor to swap the springs from the old shocks to the new ones.

 

I have dealt with both. Both are GREAT companies. Both give TW discounts, you just have to call DSM and mention TW for them to give you a discount. I boughts shocks from DSM and dang near everything else from Wheelers. Top notch stuff all the way around.

OP: as said coilovers are pretty easy really. All you need are basic wrenches and of course a spring compressor. Only took me a lil over an hour to swap out mine.

Toyotec is a great place too. Their prices are generally higher..but where else ya gonna get Eibach coils

 

I have dealt with DSM, wheelers, and toytec. DSM I found had the best prices and best service. Toytec was good too, but their shipping is a bit high on little parts.

DSM has free shipping to the lower 48 too. (didnt help me, but good for you guys in the states)

I did the whole thing in maybe 2 hours of work, but I got the eibachs put on at a shop because I didn't want to compress 620 pound coils

 

Just ordered my OME's from toytec along with my 3 in lift I bought about 2 yrs ago. Fantastic people to deal with. All 3 offer a tw discount and although I have never dealt with wheelers or dsm, I hear they both are stand up companies.

You can't go wrong with any of the 3.

I'll raid this thread since I figured it's better than starting a new one. I have an 02 prerunner with 55k miles and I need new shocks. Would you guys still recommend 5100's with stock springs? Which AAL would even out the truck with the 5100's all around?

 

Yes and you dont need a AAL for 5100s unless you plan on leaving the front shocks on the 2.5'' setting. If thats your plan, get a Toyotec 2'' AAL or Wheelers AAL
