so my 2011 DC 4.0 Taco just got back today from the dealer after the free 5000 mile maintenance. Mkay, the issue is, the owners manual says engine oil is 5w-30, it even says it on the engine oil fill thing on the engine. On the receipt from the dealer it says they filled it with 5w-20, I havent noticed any problems driving it...yet!. Like any proud taco owner i was just scouting any problems cuz i dont trust them yet. just curious, maybe the mechanics at the dealer know what they're doing, maybe im paranoid, or maybe its a typo on the manual but its confusing, any similar problems?!, explanation! BOB SAGET!!!

    .
The times that I asked for spec on my truck it always came back 5w-20, so that's what I load in, full synthetic of course. Shouldn't be an issue, I've never had one.

i would think that its ok to just leave in there for the next 5k miles..but if it bothers you so much, just change the oil out yourself..only a 30 minute job if you really let it all drip out. Other than that,i dont think youll notice anything out of the ordinary.

Why does the service manual recommend 5w-30? Shouldn't we use 10w-30 in our tacos?

5w30 is such a narrow weight range (as opposed to, say, a 0w40) that I don't see any reason you would want to run 10w30 instead. It's not a big difference, and you don't get any significant benefit that I'm aware of, it's just a bit thicker when cold (10w) than the specified (5w) oil.

I'm guessing they put synthetic in? Drain cap says 5w30 but when I switched to synthetic, dealer and mechanic both said 5w20.
