Help me decide on a lift!

Ok guys, due to discovering some savings bonds I didn't know I still had, I now finally have the money for a lift. Problem is, there are just SO many different options. I have a prerunner, so I know technically drop bracket lifts aren't required to get big lift, but they do seem to still be a good option. My budget is basically 1500 dollars, but I'm more than likely going to have to pay to have this installed at a shop unless I can get a forum member to help with the install or something. My goals for this lift are the following:

1. At least 4 inches of lift.
2. Must be tough enough for moderate offroading (i.e. no rock crawling but maybe some mud and trails)
3. Has to work with VSC.

What would be your best recommendation?

He's a Prerunner, he could do a spindle lift for 4".

I have heavily considering the Camburg 4 inch spindles in the front paired with an All Pro Expedition 3 inch leaf pack in the rear. But I am concerned about the spindle's compatibility with VSC. Virtually all the stuff about the Camburgs shows them only being good for up to 2009 (pre-VSC) trucks.

 

Can anyone confirm spindles will be OK on a 2010 VSC equipped truck? I'd really like to pull the trigger and order Camburg Spindles, Extended Brake Lines, All Pro Expo Leafs, and Billstein 5150's, but I'm currently held back by this unknown information.

spindles... BEST choice for a Prerunner...everything else will be inferior (besides LT)

 

Yeah I've come to that conclusion because I can do those now with the all pro leafs in the back, and be running my stock front suspension. Later when I save up for 35 tires I could always add new C'O's in the front for 2 inchs more lift and a 1 inch block in the rear to get me to 6 inchs.

BUT...no one seems to be able to confirm the VSC compatibility of these things

 

You said it works up to and including 09? Cuz 09 has vsc so it should work for yours then.

 

Your best bet would be to call camburg and check with them...

 

Well I did manage to find some trucks on this site that were '10 and '11 model year Tacomas with spindles, and they made no mention of any serious issues. I'm going to pull the trigger on these monday, as well as some Allpro Expedition 3 inch springs, and extended break lines and 5150 shocks. I think this will be a very nice upgrade. Only problem is i'm still a bit worried about doing the install. The rear leafs and shocks I am pretty comfortable with, the front end spindle install however seems pretty involved. I don't want to pay 500 dollars for a shop to do what I COULD do myself, though.

 

Just find some buddies that are willing to help and buy them beer. And take your time, you'll be fine.

 

its is involved but straight forward... you'll just be disassembling you front suspension and adding in new spindles... easy...time consuming...but easy...plug and play

 

Well I am going to attempt it. I am just picturing some worst case scenario where my truck is stuck on jack stands in my garage because I got stuck somewhere in the process and can't get it back together right. I am sure though, if that happens i will post pics and TW will help me through it
