Will 5100's accommodate a 3" REAR lift??

I just purchased the Eibach Coils form Toytec which I am planning on running with 5100's at 0 up front. My question is I have a 2" shackle currently and I know the 5100's in the rear will accommodate this,however, if its not sitting level or it's slightly higher in the front I will be adding a 1.5" AAL. Will the 5100's in the rear accommodate a 3.5 inch lift in the rear??? Or will I need the 5125's and if so which length. Thanks in advance for the help guys. I just want to get all the correct parts the first time around.

 

No. You are better measuring for some 5125s because the 5100 will be nearly maxed out before droop.

 

Thanks Snowman! What if I go with the 5125's in the correct length I'm guessing 9" or 10" travel, and end up just running the 2" shackle and not adding the AAL. Will this Cause any problems?

 

You should take the shocks you have off and measure the distance at full droop and when bottomed out on the bump stops. Then call downsouth motorsports or wheelers and tell them the lengths. They will be able to tell you which 5125s will work.

 

Any other way to get a ballpark estimate of what length 5125's to get without taking the shocks off???

 

You dont really want to ballpark it because if they are an inch too long when fully compressed you will distroy the shock. They arent hard to take off anyway, just 2 bolts.

 

10'' ones, but you will most likey need new bump stops as they compress all the way before the bump stops i think.

to meassure you can just take your shocks out completely, you dont really need em to drive. then you have to lift one wheel as high as it will go then measure both the shock mounts. That will give you the longest and shortest distance to help determine what shock to get.

Yes you need to lift from each side. After removing both rear shocks, lift one side until the front tire starts to come off the ground. With it up in the air, measure the distance between the shock mounts on both sides. Then do the same, lifting from the other side. You are looking to get 4 measurements in inches, 2 for each side. One will be a compressed number and one will be an extended number for each side.





The idea is to get it fully flexed so there is no chance for the new shocks to overextend or over compress. Over extension and over compression will destroy a good shock.

I had 5100's in the back with my 3" fabtech lift and i blew one of my shocks out and it started leaking oil

 

i just got the all pro 3" lift leaf pack and they said 9" shocks is what i need, 10 would be too long, i also found out that most shocks need a stem to eye conversion and that gives it about an inch of lift, so if the shocks you get require the converter piece you should get 8" shocks

I talked to DSM and told them what I planned on running in the rear ( 2" shackle & 1.5" AAL) they said a 9" 5125 should do it. Does that mean I need to get a 10" for the passenger side due to the 1" difference like they come stock??? Thanks everyone for tour help!!!!!

 

DSM shoulda told you that themselves...i know a guy who has a 3'' leaf pack and is running a 9'' one on drivers side and 10'' on pass...so maybe call em again??

 

I figured they would of told me that as well... I'll double check with them again tomorrow, that's when I was planning on purchasing them.

 

To be fair, DSM is guessing too. Without actual measurements it is very difficult to know for sure. There are too many variables. You might be OK with their guess, on the other hand, one shock might be either a little short or a little too long.

Sounds to me like you want to be sure but are not willing to do what you can to help the cause.

 

Hahaha I am willing to follow your instructions to get the exact numbers but wouldn't I need the AAL installed prior to getting the measurements? As of now I only have the 2" shackle installed. Eibach coils are ordered and will be ordering the AAL tomorrow. The only thing holding me back is the 5125 measurements for the rear. I will be paring 5100's @ 0 with the Eibachs
