Exactly. The big three have pretty much started engineering their vehicles to do well in the epa tests. The numbers these things get in the real world are much lower. Look at some of the automotive media publications and compare what numbers they get. Truck Trend just tested the four F-150 engines and the average mpg were as follows:
    -base reg cab 2WD V6- 15.7 mpg
    -4x4 Crew 5.0- 15.5 mpg
    -4x4 6.2 Crew- 13.5 mpg
-2wd Crew eco boost- 17.2 mpg

Now, when they tested a 2011 4WD DC TX Pro Tacoma they averaged 18.3 mpg. With the way most of us drive the eco boost would probably get lower mileage. Turbos suck gas when you stand on them.

Give us the dvvt-i and 6 speed auto and it'll average in the mid 20's.

I don't know about that, but the low 20s is solid enough.

I'm getting a new 2011 Tacoma Tuesday and looking at the 2012 specs, I'm jealous if the USB port! Oh well, I wasn't able to wait for the 2012 anyways.

Thats helpful, thanks! It looks like still no heated seats so I guess my -27 degree weather will continue the need for me to warm the car up but I guess this answers the question "should I get leather," not if it's not an option. Wish they at least offered a remote start so I might have to go with compustar. I heard homelink is pretty awesome too. I don't think i'm in the market for 18" chrome wheels.

My 2007 Tacoma has leather seats, purchased new, listed on the sticker. No, they are not "Toyota Factory" leather, but they are very nice. 4 years and 107,000 miles later they are still wearing well. I'm sure your dealer could get leather seats for you if you wanted them - my new 2012 Tacoma will have leather...

My friends new 4runner can get in the low 20's, with a 6 speed auto it should be able to hit the mids

Thanks for this... it seems to corroborate a lot of random musings. One question though. What does

    mean?

Does Power Points mean only DC or will there be AC from the factory?
