Over 10 years of my big feet scuffing the doorsill gettin in/out of the truck-I have completely removed all the paint and began changing the integrity of the metal there. I tried foil tape and such but burned trough that too. So I'm putting this here for the 1st gen guys who may be suffering the same problem. Herculiner is super tough stuff. Don't get the $94 starter kit-just buy a $40 can
    [IMG]

then go to Ace and get a cheap paint brush and a corner painting pad
    [IMG]

some medium sandpaper and thick masking tape. WEAR RUBBER GLOVES THIS STUFF WILL NOT COME OFF YOUR HANDS! Pop the can and mix the hell out of the stuff with a stick to get all those rubber bits going. Mask off the desired spot, gently sand the desired spot to get a surface, wipe area with a cloth to remove dust, lay a catch cloth under the job, then grab that cornering pad and dip into the Herculiner and dab it in. Do the whole job dabbing with that pad. This works a lot better than brushing. It'll begin tacking in about 40 minutes but in that time you sit there with the paint brush you got and control the rundown at the bottom, smoothing it into the job. After an hour, dip the pad and dab a bit more to the edges of each level of the doorjam where you know your big ol feet will be scuffing the most. No more application now it's setting so you SLOWLY pull the masking tape away from the job and off the truck. Sets up in 9-12 hours:) GOOD STUFF MAYNARD!

I don't even think I step on that part when getting in. I step onto the trim piece, plan on using this to bedline the bottom quarter of my truck along with the bed of my truck.

    Thank ya Chris:)

PC I don't step on it either-I drag my foot across it somethin fierce cause I'm really almost too big for this truck-it's inadvertant and I cannot get myself to be aware of it so-this is gonna do the job for sure.

I thought about that and doing the passenger side too but I just mainly want to keep it to the problem zone and it really looks kinda nice in a purpose-specific way.

Nice job on you too Steve:) I still have a whole damm can-I may just get hercu-happy here:D

Thanks:) hey what if you up that hood job with it continuing to the fender flare then around marker lamp and under headlight? Might be slick!

Looks cool on yours but I like my paint matched flares I don't want to go too nuts with this stuff:eek: I was thinking about the door edges next?

Wow great job on all those parts kmok:) well it seems I am the only one who has the doorjam problem-now I have to worry about the rough texture of the Herculiner destroying my shoes:( can't win.
