Just did the Anytime Locker Mod and amazed myself by getting it right the first time! Thanks to TW and piercedtiger! Works great and makes you wonder why the heck doesn't Toyota just do it from the factory since the Prereunners can do it in 2WD! Thanks again piercedtiger for the post and all these great "Cheap Mods"

    FOG LIGHT ANYTIME MOD

Now that i have finally done this mod, i can truly see the need for the foglight on indicator, so i am gonna spend a little time on this. I think what i can do is steal the signal from the relay that is being modded, and use that to light an indicator.
There is an indicator in the switch already, but it is only for the dash lights, mine was out, so i replaced with an LED while i was in there. I also noticed that there is location for a second light just above the dash light but needs to be cut out to accommodate an indicator.
    Stay tuned!

EDIT: Never mind, looks like it is done already!!

On the 05+ tacos it's on drivers door, but you need to decode it like the VIN number. Probably the same for 04.

Your Tacoma will have either 3.909 or 4.100 gears, according to your VIN, you do not have DIFF LOCK. IT originally came with p225/75r15 tires. A tech here at the dealership I work at said more than likely it has 3.909 gears. The 4.100 are normally for 4x4 but there are always exceptions. On the door or door jam plate, it "should" have what gears are listed though.

Ever had to remove the spare tire?

Have you noticed that even if you practiced doing it, it's PITA to engage the rod on the elevator?

Grab a PVC 1 1/2" sanitary pipe and cut a 14" section, drill a hole about 1" from the end and install it with a zip tie as seen in the pictures, works like a charm and total cost was $2.35 for the whole 10ft pipe.

Why didn't Toyota did that in the fist place?

Ever had the stock radio out and see if the tape or CD inputs can be rewired for an iPod jack? I am using one of those things that plug into the iPod and then go in the tape deck and was wondering if there was another way without replacing the whole unit. Thanks.

Added extra awesomeness to its original awesomeness.
If you have a tape deck I'm sure you could make this work for you too.

Yeah, that is what I am looking for. I wasn't sure if there was a big difference between 1st and 2nd generation models. I have a 2003.

Thanks. I will take a look at this later.

With all these mods to get locker anytime, has anyone damaged the locker or rear end by locking it and driving it? its not limited slip so wont the locker damage things when turning on curvy roads?

Don't know about the Taco locker, but with other rigs I've owned with full time lockers (Detroit) or part time (ARB air locker), you just wear the hell out of your tires and/or disengage it when not in use.
It seems to depend on type and use/abuse....
