I have a 2009 double cab and installed the XM tuner from Toyota about 1 1/2 years ago.

I believe these are Pioneer components so.. if I bought an aftermarket Pioneer head unit, would it plug n play with my existing XM tuner and antennae connections?

I asked the Crutchfield and BestBuy staff and they are not sure.

Link to the unit (XM unit) you're using?

On my phone right now but it's the one that comes with the factory xm radio package from Toyota.

I have the install instructions at home. Will post them when I get back

Someone's got to know the answer. If not, guess I'll buy one and see for myself then post the results.

My XM was built right into my head unit on my 2011. Im sure it was different on the earlier models. I guess i will STFU and get out of your thread for lack of knowledge. :D

No idea man. But I'd think if it works with stock stuff you should be fine with the aftermarket hookup.

you can make the antenna work. other than that, you will need whatever interfaces for your specific radio, and an aftermarket xm tuner.

Damn so the Toyota xm tuner, located under the rear seats, does not have the correct hookups to serve as the tuner for the aftermarket stereo?

Do you have the JBL head unit? I am pretty sure there is no xm tunner behind the rear seat. I have the JBL head unit and the xm tuner is part of the head so if you replace the HU you are also removing the tuner. But like it was said before you could use the antenna with an aftermarket tuner but you might need to by an adapter for it.

Edit: I might have to take back what I said.

When I took mine apart it looked like all the electronic tuner components were there. I never saw any tuner in any wiring diagram i looked at but maybe i missed it. I upgraded my old head unit with the newer one that has xm on the face plate, so my truck didn't come with xm pre installed. I just wanted the Bluetooth I got no interest in the xm so I really haven't looked into it that deep. I am interested now though.

My truck has the non-jbl head unit. I bought the XM tuner and fit kit and installed it myself under the rear seats. All the wiring for the fit kit runs to prewired connections under the drivers side kick plate.
