Stock truck looking for exhaust and mods

Hey whats up everybody, Im a newer guy on here and have been browsing for a while. I have finally decided its time to start modding my completely stock 09 taco. I want to start with exhaust and intake but all the intake seem so damn expensive. I'm also going to do that headlight mod, I understand there is the black backround mod but are there any others?

That exhaust looks kinda cheap, if you are looking for something cheap you might wanna look into just swapping out muflers.

 

I also wouldm't trust that exhaust, especially since that whole catback is the same price as some mufflers. Just get a performance muffler, Magnaflow, Wicked Flow, Aero Turbine etc and get it welded in. Same performance and sound as a catback just cheaper. As stated previously CAI are really only good for sound and if you wanna waste money. Just go with a AFE pro dry or K&N drop in, i got an extra mpg when i put in my AFE drop in. And i also ordered my BHLM lights off of Ebay, revotek is the seller and you can check my build page to look at them...

 

I was originally going to buy a magna flow but this seemed better and not permanent where welding a muffler in would be. Well the intake seems to quiet I want to make it a louder, what would be the most inexpensive way of making the intake loud?

 

the drop in does add a small bit of sound buy the CAI is really the only way if you're looking for sound. and although getting welded in seems permanent, you can always have it cut out and it will be fine

 

Has anyone tried the ebay exhaust? I would much prefer a catback due to not having to weld in a muffler. If the cheaper exhaust isnt an option, how much can I expect to pay for a new or used system?

 

just have it welded in, when it gets cold outside the clamps contract and i have had other mufflers/piping come loose that weren't welded. Also when its welded you'll have no leaking

 

hmm, do cat backs have issues of leaking on tacomas?

I got a K&N for like 250 i think, I love it when I step on it the thing roars, looks alot cleaner then the stock air intake and i think its alot less weight. So i mean if u got the money doit

 

Hey how much would a average shop make you pay for them to weld say a magna flow tip on? And what tip size do you want for the 05-09s?

Bought a Flowmaster 40 at a muffler shop (Technically used on a chevy for 1 week, or at least that's what he told me) and welded for $100.

 

When it says access cab on the ebay description for the cat back, does this mean it would not fit my double cab? I found another exhaust made by MBRP that supposedly not as loud and raspy any word on these suckers?

Did some research, ended up with the MBRP installer series cat back. Now on to the intake. I do not want to spend 250$ on intake, are there other option? I cant seem to find any other than the ebay ones

 

Not a bad choice on the exhaust.

Go for a drop in filter in your stock exhaust. Some of the cheaper intakes, like the one you linked to above, would draw in how air from the engine bay and complete defeat the purpose of a CAI since it would cause you to lose power. Keep an eye out for a used CAI on here or bite the bullet and get a TRD or AFE Si intake. You can find other options that are cheaper but in most cases you get what you pay for. Keep that in mind when contemplating adding a cheap part to a very expensive truck.

What If I built a heat shield for the cheapo one? It sounds like I need to bite the bullet, and spend the mula.
My main goal for exhaust wasnt to make it as loud as possible but to have a good tone rather than just air sounds. These trucks are really restricted
