Can someone explain how shackles work on a 85 4runner/pickup. If you get 4" shackles will it lift it 4"? If so why don't shackles lift 2nd gens?

 

The shakles are reversed on 2nd gens so if you got longer shackles it would lower it

 

Now that is unless you got a shackle flip kit from ato that hasn't come out yet

 

lol so 4 inch shackles on a 85 would lift it?

 

Correct look at your shackle then look at there shackles a little different

 

Alright thanks. Just getting an idea. I think building the yota axles is my best route and arb front and rear then maybe 1" shackles and new leafs and 33"s. that guy called me back he said next weekend he will be back in town so I can check it out.

Well colin that's one of first things I checked but my switch would be illuminated blue and it wasn't. So I had my buddy jump my truck, hopefully it will turn over tomorrow.

well, we may have one more casualty on our hands.....my truck sounds like it has a supercharger. haven't really investigated yet, but i'm figuring the wine is coming from either the altornator or a pulley. the wine's pitch and volume both fluctuate with RPM. what do you guys think?

 

I bet its your idler pulley. If your truck spent a good amount of time in water it might be that.

 

Last friday me and my brother started our straight axle conversion project on our 89 toyota p/u. Got 6 lug chevy axles (matching front and rear) from one of our buddy's mud truck. we were just gonna do enough shackle in the rear to match the front, but we're using 4" lift front chevy springs and we're going to be getting 10"-12" of actual lift. that would be some huge shackles lol
