I'm guessing you'll need everything that you mentioned in your post.

There's writeups all over the internet on this. Relatively easy. It is something I read up on awhile back when I was considering buying a 4runner with a blown engine.

From what I remember: the engine will bolt to the existing transmission. You use some components from the 3.0, like the fan, clutch, starter, oil pan. The exhaust crossover pipe and the wiring are the hardest part.

The other main hangup is that the fuel lines, battery, exhaust are on the opposite sides of the two trucks. So there is some switching around.

There was a company called off road unlimited that made swap kits for this. Last I heard they went out of business.

Search on 4x4Wire and Pirate 4x4 for info. There's lots of info out there if you search for it.

I say go for it! And post up when you get it done. I wish I could pull that off myself. I have no room to work on something that major. I would LOVE to have 3rd generation Toyota 4x4 with a Tacoma 3.4 in it.:D

Put a toyota diesels in it. If done right you could really increase the value of your old truck. And yes it has been done. I see JDM toyota diesels for sale on ebay a lot. You will have to buy all your parts from Canada though since they were never sold in America.

    Just my $0.02

That would be a good idea if it could pass EPA emissions standards, but don't think it will.

Ah I keep forgetting about that. You have to excuse me I don't have to worry about that kind of thing in Idaho.

Just steel a Prius hybrid badge, and put it on the back, you'll be good to go, no questions asked...

Its not too bad. Motor mounts can be reused, your transmission will bolt right up. Just need the engine and ECU and study some wiring diagrams so you can make your harness
