Winter ski/snowboard gear storage in Taco

This is my first post but have been reading through almost every thread on here since I got my '07 White Double Cab TRD Off-Road last spring.

I am starting to think about the winter and how to keep my ski boots and other gear warm on the 2 hour drive up to Vail on the weekends this winter. I do not have a topper yet, but am looking at the different options. I would rather have a soft top but don't think that will keep my gear warm. I always car pool, so putting gear in the cab is really not an option.

Any suggestions? What do you guys do?

 

Even if you put a topper or a bed cover on, it won't keep your boots warm - there's just no heat going back there. No matter what you're going to have to have your boots in the cab or use the heaters in the lodge once you get to the mountain. It works out ok for me b/c I usually only have 2 other guys that I ski with so the boots/bags all go in the 60% side of the rear fold down seat.

Yeah i would throw my boots behind the rear seat and tell the others sucks for them if their boots are cold maybe they should have driven.

 

Fiberglass shell and a 12v heater is about your only option if you can't keep gear in the cab.

 

What they said. Otherwise get a Tupperware bin and some towels and throw some Hot Hands inside your boots for the drive. Then at least you have a dry place for them on the ride home.

 

Was gonna say if you had the 12V plug in the bed you could just slap a heater back there but PUGGA beat me to it

 

welcome man. im going to have a member on here that dose custom mettle work. make me some bars that go across the bed and get a yakima board holder. and just put my stuff in side. most people i would have is 2 or 3. if more may use a rubber made container.

I am thinking about putting a plastic crossover box in the bed and lining it with insulation and then mounting a 12 v heater in the box. Probably won't keep them super warm, but may do the trick.

 

That can work. I usually have enough room in my truck to keep my boots and snowboard wear inside but for boards and skis and what not, I throw them on my rack system over the bed.

 

Lol i usually just throw my boots right under the floor vents under the steering wheel while i get dressed and turn the heater on full blast. that usually does the trick within 5 minutes...

 

knew i had read about this on here and it took me a min to find it, but i think this would be a perfect solution. check it out...hope this helps.
