Thanks for the info. I may be the only one, but its nice to see the bigger backup camera. I always thought the current one was too small.

she has an sr5 with tow package and the premium leather/sunroof/everything package. It's 4x4. Mixed driving she gets 19-20mpg, on the highway a little more. With me driving at 75mph and flooring it whenever I passed someone, I still got 19mpg. In my tacoma that will get me between 12-15mpg. My truck gets decent city mpg, but on the hwy is where I'm hurting.

A few things. Your truck is lifted a bit and has much heavier rolling stock than factory. As a result your gearing if off a bit, aerodynamics are worse, and the engine has to work quite a bit harder to push the extra weight in combination with effectively taller gearing. That is going to hurt your mpgs so I don't see how you can compare this to the t4r. I had a 4Runner before the Tacoma and average the same mpg around town. The 4Runner did get one mpg better average on a trip but it was also lower to the ground and more aerodynamic. You keep talking about the six speed helping with mpg, and I don't see how you think it will make that big of a difference. The sixth gear ratio will likely be only slightly higher that the current 5th gear, if any. The main advantage of the six speed is that it allows for the engine to hit the sweet spot of its power band more often, as there are more ratios packed into what is essentially the same ratio spread.

For those of you who have actually spoken to a dealership in person, is there any word (educated speculation at least) on what the MSRP jump will be?

I'm still learning about entune, and from my understanding, it isn't gonna give me anything more than what my Droid smart phone will give me. It seems like a pricey waste...Or am I missing something?

It's not horrible. I wanted to see Homelink added which is good. It looks like there still are no heated mirrors or cargo light.

That's similar to what I'm expecting.

I was planning on Photoshopping my own version if I had the time...work is just ridiculous right now.

You had the new 4runner? I'm well aware of my truck weighing 5100 lbs, and larger tires ect, but since the speed limit here in FL is usually 70, which for me means 75, my rpm's are quite high, with an extra overdrive I could get into a lower more fuel friendly rpm range.
When I had the 5.7 tundra with 6 speed auto for a few weeks I got better mpg's than in my dads 5.3 silverado, that extra overdrive makes a big difference.

This is complete and utter horse shit.

Allow me to translate this into reality. The customer PAYS EXTRA MONEY for the Entune hardware but only gets to use it for 3 years without forking over more cash. Toyota has not said how much Entune costs after that time. Let's just say it's $20 per month. That's $240 a year. If you keep the truck 10 years, that's going to cost you an additional $1,680 over that time period. Could cost more, could cost less, but nobody seems to know at this point.

When signing paperwork saying the truck costs _________ amount, I shouldn't have to pay hundreds or thousands more to use a feature I already paid for.

I had a base 2010 SR5 4WD which got totalled. I know what you are thinking, but I doubt a six speed would be able to accomplish much lower rpms on the interstate than what the five speed gets. Sure they could put an extra tall sixth gear in it but the engine would not put out enough juice to keep it in that gear for long. I think I am turning about 2400 rpms at 80 and on most grades I can hold that speed without the trans shifting. I don't see a 200 rpm reduction helping out much, and anything lower than that and I think the thing would be shifting out of sixth on even the slightest incline. This could be tough on the trans as well as annoying (go drive a 2010-11 Cadillac SRX and you will understand what I mean). Also, as soon as you put larger than stock tires and a lift you would have a useless sixth gear. FWIW, have you ever driven a manual trans Tacoma? Anyhow, I totally think a six speed would be sweet. The Silverados can get away with the tall sixth gear becuase they have such low end torque that the engine has enough grunt to pull them along at 1800 rpms on the highway. Even with the dual vvt-i engine this would not be the case in the Tacoma. The Tacoma needs the six speed to allow more ratios to choose from to keep the engine in its power band. It could make a difference in towing mpg for sure. I think if Toyota wants to get serious about a Tacoma that gets mid 20s mpg reliably and consistenlty (not just for those that pussy foot around) the only answer is hybrid or diesel (damn that would be sweet).
