Spring TSB does not apply to my 2010

Does anyone know why the TSB does not apply to the base 2010 tacoma?

It has the 48210-04380 springs in it now. The dealer took it apart to do the spring TSB and their 4 leaf springs would not fit.

After re-reading the TSB, the TSB says only 4x4 and pre runner models are covered?

I understand about spring over and spring under. The spring under is just as weak as the spring over. Is it true that there is a Toyota Canada part number number that will replace my spring under with a 4 leaf spring under?

Pretty sure the Canadian 5 lug trucks are the 3 leaf spring under as well

 

I called a Vancouver BC dealer and the parts guy said that were two sets available for the under spring. A 2+1 and a 3+1. I currently have the 2+1.

I plan on letting Toyota spend their money first. When that runs out I will raid the wife's egg money.

Did your '10 bottom out/ have a 'harsh ride'?

My '05 did, but my '10 did not... If it doesn't need a TSB then there is no reason to change (if it ain't broke, don't fix it).

Access Cabs and Double Cabs had the issue but not regular cabs. The 3 leaf springs were not strong enough for the bigger 2nd gen access and double cabs... at least in the beginning.

 

Interesting to know , I had thought there was no TSB for the 5 luggers

Yes, and no where do I see him say he had a harsh ride or the suspension bottomed out... that is why I asked.

 

I have a access cab 5 lug. Yes I have a harsh ride when moving between Arizona and Oregon hauling a 4-5 hundred pound load twice a year.

For some reason Toyota excluded the 5 lug series. Can anyone think of a good reason why?

From the '09 dealer brochure, the 5-lug reg. cab is about 200 pounds less than the regular cab pre-runner, and about 400 pounds less than the regular cab 4x4.

The 5-lug regular cab is about 300 pounds less than the 5 lug access cab. It is about 300-500 pounds less than an access cab prerunner/4x4.

It is about 700-900 pounds less than the double cab 4x4s.

My guess is that's a main reason why.

 

This is a reasonable reply JKD. This all started when I was looking for a way to upgrade the suspension in my Tacoma after the Last trip to Arizona hauling a 4-500 pound load. I was impressed with how unstable the truck was. Then I discovered the TSB and thought this is my problem, there is a fix and life is good. Then the dealer called today and said the upgrade parts don't fit after they had stripped the old springs out. After this screw up the dealer had the insight to tell me that my truck did not quality for the TSB. If Toyota won't stand behind this truck then I will have to go the AAL or airbag route. We will see how this plays out.

Nothing of consequence, since it has absolutely nothing whatsoever to do with the TSB or rear spring issues.

I believe there is another reason that the base model is not eligible for the TSB and that is.....The base model has the 2+1 leaf under spring. There is no US upgrade part for that spring. The only upgrade part for the base model is a Canadian Part # which is a 3+1 under spring. The trucks eligible for the TSB all have over springs.
