I had a 2.5 T-maxx and than converted it into a 3.3 long chaise and made it fully aluminum. Than was spending to much money on repairs so I sold it and bought a Rustler VXL and put a Mamba Max motor on it and speed controller. Not my rustler is all aluminum. I also have sand, mud, street and tires for it. I love it. Ill post pics

I've ordered stuff from here and highly recommend them

    http://www.amainhobbies.com/

EDIT: check out the brand Protek (owned by A-Main Hobbies), its fairly inexpensive and A-main will warranty their batteries and chargers

either of you have a suggestion on size of battery?

I know it's designed for "stick pack" but I'm down right confused about whether nimh or lipo would be better and what milliamp rating i should be looking for

This obviously isnt going to be a dedicated crawler...and im not looking for insane speed

just want something to give me a good amount of life with general trail riding

specs of the wraith here: http://www.axialracing.com/ftp/wraith/index.html

for my crawlers, i always ran NIMH since i typically run 65 to 85 turn brushed motors on them... i usually run a 6 cell 4500mah or 5000mah...

for my current crawler, im running an 85 turn brushed with a 4500mah 6 cell which tends to last longer than i can keep my interest, so i only end up charging the battery after a few days...

I would look at 7.4v look packs, they will give the longest life and good consistant power. You should be able to find a 5000mah pack for not too much.

On the second note, with great power comes great responsibility. Lipos need a little more care, do not run them completely dead, they won't come back. Make sure you get a look specific charger. Yes they can be expensive or really cheap, be wary of really cheap. And also they don't like extreme heat or cold.

If you can handle that, lipped are awesome they have incredible power and and an almost flat discharge curve. All I run in my rc's are lithiums.

20T is good for scale rock racing...

if you want to do the slow torque crawl, a 55T runs great...

turns= the number of times the wire is wrapped on each arm of the stator.

the higher the turn count the more torque and less rpm it creates, the lower the turn count the lower the resistance so a 6 or 7 turn motor creates tremendous power and rpms, at a cost, they do use way more electricity. think of it as the less number of turns, the less resistance and the closer you get to going to a short.
