Questions on new Intake and exaust

I am about to put a Flowmaster "American thunder" dual exaust and a K&N 63 Series AirCharger High Flow Intake on my 07 Taco. Has anyone used similiar or the same products? If so what did you think of them? Thanks.

I also ordered the Flowmaster 50 series dual exhaust system but I nave not gotten it yet. From what a very smart TW member named chris4x4 told me was that we are actually going to lose around 5-6 horses from the new exhaust but it won't be enough for us to even notice on the road. I was also thinking about getting an intake to make up for the loss but he said only a certain intake would give us any horses back. He said K&N was crap and that was what I was looking at getting as well. I decided to just stick with my stock intake. Oh by the way, nice color choice!!!

 

I had heard something similar about the hp decrease, as far as the intake, well some people live by K&N and some hate it. I'll wait to find out. Let me know what you think of your exaust when you get it.

 

Yeah no problem. I'll hopefully have it by this weekend but if not, early next week some time. So are you going with an intake system?

 

I have a TRD exhaust and intake, I used the TRD because of the fit and finish, no rattles ect. Some like the URD cold air intake and the design and idea is a great idea. I just don't like the exposed air filter of the URD intake sitting right behind the grill. So far I am very happy with both items. Just my opinion, not a fan of the K&N items, I see too many come to my dealership rattling and so forth. The K&N systems are cheaper though.

I am running the 77-series K&N intake, and have been for a long time. I've done some modding to it, as there are a few issues with it. If you get a chance the TRD or aFe intake are the BEST designed intake systems for our trucks.

For a while I ran the K&N out of the box with a FM Super 40. I didn't like the exhaust at all, and sold it. But as I stated still running the K&N, and have absolutely no complaints about it. I also run a True Flow filter instead of the K&N one.

 

I would have to say go with the TRD intake, which is what I am running. Fits perfectly and looks and sounds great. It has an extremely noticeable gain in power and throttle response. I don't think you will be disappointed going with the TRD.

 

Ive got the K&N cold air system and I like it. It sounds amazing and I feel like it helped a little with power while on the trails and highway when giving it some juice! if you are wanting to improve MPG and slight HP, from what Ive read on here, go with the AFE pro dry S drop in filter.
