Fwiw, I cooked the paint with a orbital on a car years ago. I have never picked one up since. I know that on certain instances, depending on the paint, they can do more damage than good. Talked to a body man about it and he mentioned that you need to change out the pads quite often as you go and look for key things to do it right so it all blends in and you don't get cobweb scratches.

So I have a flat spot on my vehicle where it feels like the clear coat is gone or missing? All other parts of the car feel "smoother" than this one area on the hood. I run my hand over this one section, and it feels rough or "dry". Could it be the clear coat is missing? Or do I need to pay special attention to this area when I wax the entire vehicle?

    Help?

Ok, I believe I have now run through this entire thread! What great info! I do have a question that I didn't see answered (which shocked me a bit with their prevalence nowadays,) and that is what product do u recommend on to clean/protect matte black wheels. Mine are XD Series wheels. Thanks a bunch.

Any all purpose cleaner that is paint safe will take care of cleaning the wheels. As far as protecting them, I have used Adam's Super VRT applied on some matte wheels and this brings them back to looking like new.

I apologize for bringing this back up again, but I just wanted to get some opinions about that water problem we've been having with our trucks. Here's a 50/50 picture of my Dad's brand new '11 Tacoma after we worked on it today. The spots are going to come back obviously, but do you guys think both of us should make a complaint to our condos association and see if they'll pay to have the trucks professionally detailed and sealed to help prevent this? I've been thinking about it ever since we talked about it last and I'm just kind of scared to make a stink about it, but I hate this is happening to our brand new trucks because of the water here. There's also a newer BMW here that this is happening to as well. Thanks for any help :)

So I just picked up a "new" '01 DC TRD Radiant Red from a dealer. They detailed and shined this truck up rediculous and it looks good, but I've noticed two things that I'd like to ask you about.

First, there are little speckles all over the truck that look like grease splatters from a frying pan. They buff out pretty well.. do you think that a real good wipe down will take care of these and prevent them from comin back?

Second, they used some kind of product on the black fender flares and the tires that is EXTREMELY greasy! it looks like they smeared Crisco all over them. Could this be the cause of the speckles on the paint?? and do you think I should clean it off?

    tHank you

Just use a clean white terry cloth, or even a micofiber towel. Sounds like they used armor all or equivalent and its overspray.

Wow that is ridiculous. Sounds like if it doesn't work to talk to the landlord then you can start sending him your detailing bill. If he won't work with you then its off to small claims....that's messed up!

Thx bro. Yeah I'm pretty bummed because I was so excited about this truck and keeping it spotless lol. I'll try to mention it to the association president next time we see him or at the next meeting. Thanks for the help :)

It looks like someone got some wax on the rubber strips and didn't wipe it off. You can try a few different products to get that haze off. It doesn't look like oxidation as much as a paste wax residue.

Try some wax remover or goof off. if that doesn't work a nice liquid polish and an orbital buffer may shine it right up.
