I am seriously considering the Marlin Crawler "TacoBox," instead of gears, because like you I would want to lock the front at the same time I do the gears. With the TacoBox, I can drive around with normal gearing and then when I am off road I can use Lo-Lo and creep along.

I'm using Android, and it's better than BlackBerry, so that isn't it.:D

Just kidding, I'm sure that's what it is.

The only problem with that is then you lose your streetability. The rolling resistance of the 265's will be a decent change, but the 255 will be huge compared to the stock 245's.

Those charts compare the three tire sizes and the 255's gain a whole 3 inches over the 245's. That's a whole lot of power loss for cruising around town or on the highway.

Yea, unfortunately that will be the case as you add a couple hundred pounds of armor as well. The reason I suggested that size is, the simplest way to add more clearance is to install larger tires. Also Discount Tire will order you in tires to test fit them (so you can keep you options open.)

I run 265/75s, they get the job done, but the goal for my next few mods is to add more clearance, approach angle and traction.

That's the tire shop that I have worked at for so long. I won't ask them to order anything unless I am 90% sure I will buy. They can't send stuff like that back very easily, so...

That's my other concern. With bumpers, sliders, skid and then adding larger tires, that's a lot of weight without changing gears. I just figure I will do the gears/tires/at least one locker at the same time.

you are. If I build my new one before I leave then I'm just going to toss it in the trailer and haul her up for ya.

I just need another one for myself to carry everything on the current basket

Not sure how it fits on the 1st gens, but I'm sure it's similar to the 2nd gens.

2005+ has the bed rails and the basket sits on top of the bedside and has tabs that bolt into the rails to hold it in place
