So switching over to a automatic coming from 2 other 5 speed toyota sticks and 15 years of shifting.

    I am bored as hell.

That's all I used to own - were manuals.

Don't worry, you get used to it. It's kinda nice having a free hand to do....all sorts of other things. :D

Gun it! That's what I do since Expeditions only come in automatics and the Mazda has a terrible slushbox of a transmission.

Don't worry, it takes time to get used to something different but change is good. (no presidential pun intended)

I feel for ya, the manual transmission was the one thing I was unwilling to compromise on.

You got a auto w/ your Mazda 3s? I feel really sorry for you man... that 5spd is one of the best manuals out there. (got an 06);)

To the OP, Did you test drive both, why didn't you get what you wanted when you bought it?

Suppose you could hunt one down for trade, at least the auto is worth more...

I did the same thing. Got the auto for better gas mileage. This is my first automatic ever. Took a while but now I love it.

Well there was only one used one that we could work under 20k. I have yet to try to test drive the new 6 speed. I would like to.
I think i will be fine with the automatic. just going to be bored awhile

I still have a tenancy to "shift" even though it's an automatic. Down shift on the long downgrades vs using my brakes and when I want to have a little fun with WOT I'll start in 2nd or 3rd to get the revs up higher before the shift to unleash the power of the V6. :D

I know how you feel.....well maybe not 15 years experience...but close behind that ;)

Sometimes it is nice to leave the truck at home and take my $3500 supra out for a spin. Might not look as pretty but it sure feels nice!

You ned to go to an arcade and steal the shifter off of one of the racing games and then duct tape it to the console to make yourself feel better!

I was in your same position a few years back. I found it was the best decision I had made. Traffic here in LA bumper to bumper sucks in a stick.

Now you can text, drink coffee, put on makeup(if that's your thing),fidget with the radio and hold a phone to your ear. That pesky shifter just gets in the way while doing the important things while driving anyhow.Hell I've seen some folks around here steering with their knees.
    :rolleyes::D

    J/K,I miss shifting sometimes too.

The auto transmissions in the Tacomas shifts really nice and crisp. I know the feeling. My two previous trucks had 5spds. It will grow on you after awhile. At work I drive 6spd units all day long.
You can always get a motorcycle

I actually have a jeep now. Imagine that.
i still step on the foot rest and grab the shift knob every now and then. you get used to it.

Haha, thanks. I've heard the 5 speed is good but that slushbox on the car is hell. Man do I hate it. Oh well, it's gonna be sold for that 09 Tacoma!

These guys do offer good advise! Especially since the truck doesn't have a manumatic type of deal...which would be really weird in a truck.
