    4.5" would be better than 5", but I've heard of guys fitting 285's with 9" wide rims and 5" backspacing, because the wider rim pulls the tire a little further away from the uca.

    I don't think you'll rub on the UCAs because I remember all the guys who are running rockstars (which only come in 5" BS) telling me they weren't rubbing there. You may want to look into that some more.

    I'd say once you get them on there you could see what needs to be done to aleiviate rubbing. Certainly you are going to have to trim, and possibly chop your cab mount.

    If you do end up rubbing on the UCA, a 05." spacer should do the trick.

    Wassup guys, i'm new to this forum. Needed some feed back on a set of rims and tires. Was looking at running Pro Comp 7105 with 285/70 on a 3" lift. Specs on the wheels are 17x8, bs 4.5", and a 0 offset. How much rubbing will i have? With that bs and offset how far out will my wheels stick out from the fenders? thanks

    You'll probably have some minor rubbing that you can alleviate with some trimming and possibly chopping your cab mounts. With those rim specs, the wheels will stick out 2" further than the stock wheels do.

    I failed to mention I will be putting a 3" suspension lift. Will this eliminate the need for trimming or cutting the cab mount, or is the lift irrelevant?

    I assumed that you were going to run a 3" lift when I made that statement. If you weren't running a lift and tried to fit those tires you would barely be able to turn.

    Whats up. Been reading and reading trying to figure out what I'm gonna do and how to do it. Think I have it figured out, but have to check.
    I have an 06 TRD Sport, stock height(will only lift with 5100's/AAL, if I have to because of rubbing issues, or if I want the better shocks). So, a 17x9 with 4.5 bs seems to be the way to go with what I'm looking at. The wheel I'm looking at however, according to the website, also comes in a 5.47 bs,+12 offset. I'm assuming thats the same as 5.5 bs? Which is of course, the same as the stock sport wheel.
    Heard a lot about going with a 4.5 bs, but not closer to the stock 5.5. I won't ever be upgrading to 285s, so thats not an issue, but I'm looking at going with the 265/70/17 duratracs(yes, I know the duratracs are only spec'd to a 8.5" wheel).
    So, with that info, will going with this backspacing cause me any rub isssues? Or should I just go with the 4.5? Thanks!!!

    If you won't ever have 285s, then going with the 5.5" bs will be fine.

    I am new to to this site, and a new toyota owner and have read the previous posts but just wanted clarification real quick if no one minds. I want to get these wheels http://www.ultrawheel.com/pdf/rims/164 Ultra Matte Black RWD.xls1.pdf they are 16x8 and it says it is 4.5 backspacing and -6 offset. I believe I read in a previous post that the 4.5 backspacing will make the tires pop out 2 inches farther than stock. Is that correct? I dont really like the look of the tires popping too far out. So if anyone can help that would be great. Awesome site too by the way.

    Some stuff. Not a lot, just some.
    That's about right but it will partially depend on the tire too. Stock is 16x7 with 5.5" BS (I think some stocks maybe 5.25 also). So now you add another 1" of rim width and another 1" of BS and you would have around 1.5" further out.

    Thank you for the help. I was planning on getting the BFG A/T 265 for the rims. I guess I can deal with the tire hanging out for the look I want.

    Just thought of another question. Does it matter if it says RWD. Some wheel websites ask if the truck is 4wd or 2wd. Would the same rim not work for my 4wd? I dont want to buy these wheels and have them not fit or work incorrectly. I guess I don't really understand how a wheel could be for 4wd or 2wd.

    No it doesn't matter with the Tacoma. The only reason I could see a need for it is in regards to the five lugs.

    Those wheels did not fit. I'm going with the black rock yumas. He recommended a 17 inch rim and a 255/70/17 tire. He said any bigger and it might rub. Is this true? I was thinking the toyo open country, if anyone has experience with those tires, how are they?
