You probably want an electronic linear actuator. That would be like an arm that extends and contracts. You dont want hydraulic cause then you would need some kind of pump

Or as Matt said, your penis

I don't think you will get an actuall 11" of travel from the Camburg. You would have to double check with cliff but I don't think he measured that much travel on the 1.25" burgs and co's.

well, there alot of differences to think about between mid travel and LT besides plain old travel numbers...

when you go LT you replace both stock arms, not just the uppers, with much much stronger materials, eliminate the stock ball joints (upper and lower), get the added track width, ability to run 2nd shocks (depending on kit)...

i've seen alot of people run into problems with the 1.25" UCA making contact on the shock coil at full droop, and they have to run limit straps to prevent this... therefore they dont acheive the full 11" of advertised wheel travel... just saying.

as for the choice between the 2" AP kit or the 2" chaos kit... chaos all the freaking way...boxed lower arm and ability to run 2nd shock are wins in my book

thanks. ya i forgot about the the factory ball joint being changed to a uni on the lowers and realized that LT also has different lowers. Just curious if there were more differences than the mentioned.

SO with that said the TC 2" over kit is lets say 2500 without shocks with 11.5" of travel. Their 13" of travel kit costs 2900 without shocks....is the only reason you would not go ahead and invest the 400 extra for more travel just to stay within limits of racing associations if in fact you build your truck to race?

I'm not too sure on that one. But he said it was a big difference when he changed to LT

the kits are more based around customer preferance... trails rigs and dezert rigs... hitting up tight trails and playing around in open areas, or blasting through whoops balls to the wall.

since you have a 2WD truck, i'd get the 3.5" kit for sure... no need to keep the extra track width low for tight, rock crawling trails

Matt's right, all though the arms for the 2" are not the same thickness as those for the 3.5" kit!

I got a sweet deal on the AP kit so I went that way :spy: Plus I don't plan on bashing that hard on mine, more for the travel numbers etc.

or not wanting to change your track width and/or body panels!

i believe the 2" kit is class legal for class 3 . the fj fits in class 3 but there are no pickup trucks allowed in class 3. so the tacoma wont fit in any class with the 2" kit.
now, in snore napa 7s class you can go up to 1" longer arms. been thinking about doing a 1" longer kit so the tacoma will fit in that class with 4wd and 12-13" of travel . mainly so you can fit a secondary shock and still use the factory bumpstop location

but like said earlier if ur 2wd go with the 3.5 kit and spindles . if your 4wd you might want to be more conscious about track width change

Mike, how do you feel about the stock, 2nd gen, 4x4, spindles? There are very few upgrades, the gussets aren't a 100% fix, and the fully fab'd ones are $1800+.

I doubt anyone is pulling 11'' with UCA's and CO's.

The travel is proportional to the track width - the further you push the wheels out, the more travel you can get (shock is moving the same amount; wheel is moving more). How far out you go on track width (what kit you choose) depends on what kind of wheeling you do.

Besides that, I wouldn't run LT speeds on stock LCA's. You'll destroy the ball joints very quickly.
