strange rattle or chatter in engine at 2-3k

    I have heard from the parts manager at my dealership that if you use a poorly designed/built oil filter (mainly an internal check valve failure on the oil filter) it will cause the engine to "knock" or "rattle". I bought my truck from a Chevy dealer and it has an AC/Delco oil filter but I haven't experienced any strange or unusual engine noises yet but I plan on putting a Toyota filter on the next oil change any way. Hope this helps...
