I'm just curious as to what you do with your dogs when they ride with you.

I personally never let my dog in my truck. He's a German Shepperd so he's way to hairy to clean up after every time I take him to park/vet/etc. I keep a keyring on the end of his leash and use that to attach him to one of the d-rings in the bed so he can't jump out, though it's really just an extra safety measure cause he has never tried to jump out before I started doing that.

I swear he loves riding back there. When I do go on the highway though he lays down real close to the back of the cab, but anything under 50mph he has his head hanging out the side.

So what do you do with your furry friends?

My dogs love to ride in the bed. If I put them in the back seat (if it's raining or too hot) they cry the whole time, and gaze out the back window at the bed.....

My first dog was a bed dog, Rottie mix, 90 pounds, I made a special harness that let her stick her head out and move around the bed but not to the point of jumping out. (Because she would) My current dog is my Ex girlfriends, AKA my dog now, 18 LB Dachshund , so he fits in the truck just fine. Hell he goes to GA with me twice a year from Florida. He's a good pup.

They don't go swimming. I would love to get them somewhere so they could experience water like that. I'm sure we would have to put them in their crates in the bed. (i can't trust them to not jump out).

Yeah pretty much every time the dogs are in the truck it's to go swimming.

I rigged up a system using the bed rails that let's them move from one side of the bed to the other as they wish, but they are unable to jump out.

Mine rides shotgun for now, he's outgrowing it pretty fast though, he will be transfered to the back seat soon. He loves mud and water, as you can sort of tell from his paw in the pic he was pretty filthy. I just put a cheap yet thick mattress cover on my seat to cover it. Ugly as hell but at least I don't have to scrub my seat every time we come back from somewhere he got wet or full of mud.

My dogs ride in the back seat.
One of them will stay in the bed while in motion, but as soon as we stop at a red light or stop sign she'll jump out.
She'll only be around another year or so, then I'll try again with the other that is much younger.

Never had to worry about it before.... Ollie hated and Annie hates the water but Zoie loves it.... I'll probably just take a towel and dry her off - get most of the water off her and go from there.

Kids love candy and junk food, but you don't let them eat it all the time....

They can fall / jump / get flung out just as easily in town as on the interstate...

Wow I've never heard of a lab that didn't like water. Mine will just go into the lake and lay down in it for 30-40 mins at a time.

There's a few folks on here who have built dog platforms for the access cabs.

My dog rides in the back seat. I'm not totally opposed to letting them ride in the bed and I might be more inclined to let mine ride back there but she likes being closer to me and my gf.

I've got a lab mix that isn't very fond of water. Got her swimming in the lake on vacation but she didn't really enjoy it. She was mainly doing it to please me.

Thankfully I have an '08 which already has a platform :D The girls fit back there perfectly.

Zoie will splash in the pool, but don't know what she'd do in a lake or bigger pool. I'll see once she's had all her shots.
