You got hit by a drunk driver, it could have been worse. At that point nothing is worse than telling your parents. Mine would Probably be angry that I didnt tell them at that time and that I waited til the morning. Plus if you called 911 after the accident and said hit and run, they might have a chance of catching the guy, because Its this late in the hour and I doubt theres any traffic.

Or just don't drive intoxicated at all.

Sorry to hear that OP. That sucks. Did you get any part of the license plate? Hit and run is a big deal ... and that's kind of damage to the Equinox won't be easy to hide. So hopefully they catch them.

Your front end would be way more fucked up if he was doing 60... And your stupid for not reporting it right away... unless you, yourself, had something to hide...

I would like to see a diagram of the intersection this took place. The damage is on the passenger side, which on face value is usually the side where it's the owners fault hitting a tree or something on the side of the road. I am not saying you are leading us down a wrong path, but need more data to understand how he hit your passenger side and not the drivers side.

So you supposedly get hit by a drunk driver in a hit and run case, which how do you know they were drunk if they did not stop, but rather make a police report you post here on TW? I guess if your a new driver you will learn to always file a police report. Plus like William said that looks more like a front end hit rather than a side impact like you described. If you are telling a tale be sure to not file a police report stating so because you could be charged with purjury if they discover you are in fact full of crap. Just my .02.

 you don't have to lie to us. We are not your parents and will not judge,JK. You should have dialed 911 as soon as it happened. They would have found him at 5 am. Try to get the first letters or numbers of the plate and where his damage was. They would be looking for a blue equinox with front drivers side damage. How many of those were driving around at 5 am.

Sorry about you getting hit but you should have called the cops immediatly. What if the person that hit you ended up hitting someone else and killed them? I have no remorse and do not care what happens to a drunk driver. If they get hurt, handicapped, or even worse die that is their fault. Back in 1997 I had a brand new Nissan with 5004 miles on it when it got totaled because of a drunk driver. here is a pic of my brand new truck that was 3 months old. This is why I could care less what happens to someone that gets behind the wheel that has been drinking. Consider yourself lucky.

Glad to see you came out of that to tell the story. That's a nasty hit.
I am in the same boat where I have zero tolerance for drunk drivers. Before moving to NC I was a fireman in NY and have responded to my fair share of MVAs due to drunk drivers. We always knew if it were Fri or Sat night that around 2am we would start running, even more so if it were raining out. The worst part is 90% of the time the drunk driver lives and the passengers or the people they hit are the ones to get killed. I've seen guys totally sh*t faced get ejected out of the car and are standing there waiting on us when we arrived like nothing happened. Changed my whole perspective on drinking and driving. It usually takes a good bit to get me drunk but if I have had two beers I wont get behind the wheel and if I am on the bike I won't drink a drop. It's not worth the BS should you get pulled or in an accident even if I am still stone sober but have to explain the smell of alcohol on my breathe.

This is actually possible i think. I would explain it but I don't want to give to OP a legit scenario to tell his parents. I hate liars.

Post a picture of the front fender from the side ... can't tell much from that angle.

BTW you were crazy to leave the scene w/o reporting it, now you have absolutely no proof that you didn't do it yourself.

I worked collision repair for a number of years. I just want to see if the damage is consistent with his story.
