Hello all, I'm a long time forum user of many vehicle specific communitys, just new to this one.

I did some searching on Google on some other issues, and a lot of things pointed to this site, hope you guys can help.

I just bought a 2003 Sequoia Limited for 10k with 100k miles. its aiight.

First, when i hit a mild bump i hear a deathly rattle, but when I get under the truck, And shake everything I can, I cant find out what its from.

The rear window would not roll down, do I replaced the motor. Works great now.
all of a sudden, the rear hatch would not lock. I can put the kit in the rear hatch key hole, and it will still lock and unlock the other 4 doors, but not the hatch. Nothing was unplugged or removed when I replaced the window motor. I have double checked everything visually.

Any input on these 2 things would be great, Thanks!

I'm not sure how much we can help you here, but we will give it a good shot. You would be the first Sequoia on the forum to my knowledge.

For the bump rattle, I would look at any and all exhaust shrouds. Make sure all of the exhaust hangers are good. Also check for stones or debris in the shrouds. Check the transmission mounts too. Where does the sound originate from?

You can try greasing the hatch lock. Or the actuator may need replaced.

its not exhaust for the rattle, and in wondering how the rest of the doors lock and unlock except the hatch when it seems like its the power mechanism. but i dunno. ill have to dig into it a little deeper.

The rattle seems like mid/rear and it sounds horrid when I dont try to keep it quite. Ill check the drive shaft and transmission mounts, since they are both in that area.

How does the suspension look? I'm not sure if you have leafs or coils in the rear of that thing.

pretty positive its coils/shocks. The suspension looks new. I went to toyota and they said some suspension work was done prioe to me picking it up. I got it some a random used car dealer though, so its not like I can take it anywhere to get it fixed for free. Im gonna try to stop by my buddys shop today and have him check it out.

also, on the drive shaft, do they adjust when you go into 4 wheel? i can see where mine has slid back and forth and there is a nice greese line/splatter on the bottom of the truck, looks fairly new.

No. The slip yoke slides in and out of the shaft as the rear suspension travels up and down. Sounds like the greased it up already before you picked it up.

the horrid rattle was an old brake pad that wasn't removed, instead, it was allowed to fall and i guess they didnt look for it.

Glad you found your rattle. It sounds like your other problem is definitely the door lock actuator. Hopefully it is separate from the latch otherwise it will be $$$. Good luck. And welcome to the forum!!!

Does anyone know what my Sequoia would compare to? Possibly a Tundra as far as the frame? Im looking at getting a new set of headers and running a new exhaust and I think the Tundra came with the same 4.7 and I think the headers for the Tundra will fit my application. anyone know what I can search to find out more information?
