Just got back from having my tires rotated and balanced, they tell me my wheels are bent and causing an even wear. It is the inner barrell part of the wheel, not the outer rim.

Does anyone know if this is something that can be repaired and if it will keep its structural integrity if repaired?

I don't do wheeling or anything, mostly highway driving. Should I be concerned with the wear?

The other side note is that they broke 2 of my center caps and offered to replace them, which I think are about $30-40 from the dealer, or a discount on new wheels, so I don't know the extent of the wheel damage, maybe they are saying they are worse off to get me to buy new wheels that they could write off a small part of it.

    Go!

Where did you have them balanced? I would look into the new wheels, if they are discounted well.

Also If they are actually bent, you can maybe get them repaired, there is a place off 121 and beach st. in Ft. Worth that does it, but by theat time it may be cheaper to get a set off here or Craigslist :notsure: There was a set of your exact wheels on CL today.

Discount Tire. I don't know what the discount is, but I really didn't see anything I liked too much.

yeah I don't really like any of their wheels either. The Lake Worth store broke one of my FJ center caps, after I called them, they ordered me a new one. Discount can order any kind of wheels you want.

I'd probably just look for some TRD offroads or the same wheels you have if they are actually bent.

I don't know what rims you have but if you have a TRD Sport or Off Road, you can't bend the rims back (Aluminum or alloy rims can't be bent back). Steel rims are a little more malleable and some tire shops will attempt to straighten them out for you. Some shops are better at this than others and it's been my experience that once a rim has been 'straightened' it's never been the same.

If it's within your means, replacing the bent rims is your best solution.

They are the Gulf Coast rim. Let me ask you, if it is not something that I notice when driving (no shake, rattle, and hum), do you think there is any reason for concern?

How old are your tires? My mom's car had a very minor bent rim and there was no shake, hum or rattle until she got new tires. Apparently the old tires just wore in to offset the bend.

Did they say how the tires are wearing, like cupping or something, if it's wearing uneven, can you tell by looking at them?

They are just about a year old. They just said uneven; that is a good point about wearing to the bend. I don't notice any uneven wear though; maybe very slightly, but it is not apparent to the eye, I'll have to break out the ruler to tell for sure, but nothing completely obvious.

I'll look into this place and see what they say. If not I may snag those off Craigslist. Thanks again.
