Should I extend my bumpstops with the OME Dakars

yes, when your going to be carrying a heavy load you put air in the air bags and it makes the rear of the truck not sag

 

Timbrens don't do the same ?

 

Just my $0.02 but this sounds like overkill. You shouldn't need air bags along with the Dakar leaf pack. The Dakar pack should easily handle more that what the Tacoma is rated to haul. Plus, the addition of air bags will limit the amount of travel when you flex the suspension. The Dakars are made to handle a load in an off-road condition. I still have not heard anything negative about putting a leaf spring into a negative arch. They're springs, they spring back. Repeatedly doing this will cause them to wear out just like any other leaf pack.

Timbrens do the same to an extent. They are not adjustable like air bags but still allow full articulation of your rear end and will support weight if the leaf pack sags enough to where you're riding on the Timbrens. Wheelers suggested these to me when my stock leaf pack crapped out but I went with an AAL instead.

I have a 200 lb Leer cap on all the time , sometimes lots of tools and building materials .

My heaviest loads are always firewood .

Sounds like, if you're looking for the leaf pack to handle loads better, Timbrens would be a nice addition. You'd still get the same ride when unloaded and since they're taller than stock bump stops would take some of the load off the leaf pack when fully loaded.

Like I said I have no problems with my dakars using the timbrens. Plus I too have my ARE cap on at all times, rear plate bumper with spare tire swing gate, and I tow alot of chippers and small lifts which are usually around 5000lbs.

Here you go OZ I know the timbrens and flip kit are a little pricey but it is working out well for me. This is were i am at with my ARE cap, rear bumper with swing gate and tire as well as my high lift in the bed. Hope this helps a little.

 

The flip kit is for increased lift or just to get them up out of the danger zone offroad ?

How much lift do you have in the rear ?

 

The flip kit just gets the ends of the u-bolts facing up so they can't get caught on rocks or other trail hazards. No lift gained from the flip kit, just functionality.

 

^^^ Exactally, as far as how much lift i have in the rear is just what the Dakars come at I believe it is 2-3/4" it has been awhile since I installed them. But like I said I am very impressed on how they are holding up.
